Baptism question?
We are having baby Calen baptised on July 16th. We have asked my brother and his sister to stand for the baby. I was wonder should we give them a gift of some kind in appreciation?? What if anything is appropriate?? We have made reservations for 20 at a local restaurant for a breakfast/ brunch after the christening. It's all of our close family. I so am excited for this day,I love it when all of us are together.
Personally I would get a pic and frame it and give it to them a week later with a note.
Ditto, Kaye. I gave both of my boy's godparents a beautiful framed photo. I made sure to take a picture of them with their godchild on the day of the baptism, and this is the photo I used.
I am godparent to 2 children and for each I got a beautiful picture frame with the childs name on it and under the name it said special godmother. The frame was empty and a few weeks later she gave me the picture from the day of the baptism. She told me when she gave me the frame the picture would follow shortly.
We are also godparents and received a gift at each of the boys' baptisms. I just can't remember what they were! It wasn't pictures though, and I think that's a terrific idea!
Ditto, Kaye.
I never gave my kids' godparents anything, and my godchildren's parents never gave me anything. I've never heard of this practice, altho a nice framed pic is certainly a nice gesture.
Ditto on the picture. My DD went to "Things Remembered" at the mall and had small frames made with the date on them. Then she framed a picture of the baby with each godparent, that she had taken in the church. The godparents loved them. She did the same thing for the pastor.
Thank you for the idea, I have a camera with a photo dock so this will be an easy gift. Thanks again.
I'm with Kate, I've been asked to be a godparent and my boys have them. Gifts have never been exchanged between us for that. The godparents have given the kids a "welcome" gift, something along the lines of something that will help them with their spirituality. I do think the framed picture is nice, also.
