Tooth Fairy $$$$$$
Andi's video got me thinking.... How much does the tooth fairy leave at you're house?
$5 for the very first tooth and $1 and/or a small gift (new toothbrush, floss, etc.) for all subsequent teeth.
Same as Trina. $5 for the 1st tooth and $1 for all the rest. Plus we have a rule of the tooth falls out after 7pm it cannot be put under the pillow until the next night because by then the tooth fairy has his route set and he cannot add new kids to the list. We don't always have money on us we live off our debit card so quick cash it not always available.
Ditto Trina and Tonya. $5.00 for the 1st one, and $1.00 for each one after that.
Wow, that makes me feel much better! I left $5 under his pillow last night and I was feeling like that was to much money. When he woke up and found it I told him that the first tooth is very special that is why he got so much money. But the Tooth Fairs won't leave as much for the other teeth.
I've always struggled with these types of things. I think $5 it outrageous for a toothfairy gift....but almost all of my son's friends' parents think it's fine. Same with Christmas presents, etc. It's not that giving my son presents/money is a financial problem - I just think that kids are given soooo much these days compared to when I was young (I'm 37). The problem is - how do you explain that everyone else got $5 from the toothfairy (or tons of very expensive Christmas gifts) from a fictional character and he didn't? Why doesn't the toothfairy or Santa treat him the same? It wouldn't be a problem if it were just one friend but it's most of them. I just end up "keeping up with the Jones'" on smaller issues like the toothfairy. He got $5 for his first tooth. I have no problem explaining why MOM and DAD won't give him what everyone else is getting. I made him wait until he was six to get PS2. All but one friend and all of his cousins had it by the time they were four or five. I think that's CRAZY to give such young children (even at 6) such expensive electrical equipment. Even if you teach them how to handle it they don't really understand how easily it breaks. Not to mention that they are not outside running around. Right now he really wants a DVD player for the car. We have too many wonderful talks in the car for me to let him zone out on a movie. We just took a vacation and borrowed one for the six hour drive. That wasn't bad at all and I will consider getting one for those trips but then I think what ever happened to looking at the sights, singing, reading?
I can totally relate on the stuff kids want today.I think we give them too much also.I think with my DD I tried to compensate on what I didn't have as a child. She has lots but she also respects her stuff. She didn't get PS2 until last Christmas and she's 7.We are planning a trip next summer and we will get a DVD player then.I think only using them on long drives is appropriate.I love our talk/singing time when we're driving together.I also gave $5 for the 1st tooth and she gets a toonie for the others.
$1.00 per tooth. I guess this tooth fairy is cheap! LOL
Our girls got 2 "golden dollars" for the first tooth and 1 for each subsequent tooth. We try and keep them on hand however with one of my older dd's teeth she lost it unexpectedly and my DH had to stop by the post office vending machine at 11pm (the machine gives change in golden dollars) so now we always keep one or two on hand. :-)
A silver dollar for the first tooth and $1 for each tooth after.
A golden dollar for the first tooth and a regular dollar for each tooth after that. Cheap tooth fairy here, too!
