Proud of my minister

Proud of my minister
So my minister, also a friend and mentor, is getting married. Whoo hoo! Now he's an Anglican minister and quite liberal in his views and he and his fiance decided their marriage will be a civil service and they will not claim the blessings of the church until our diocese extends the blessing to ALL couples, regardless of sexual orientation. I'm quite proud of him and his stand.
I was wondering, Dawn, but I checked your profile and see you are in Canada, and that does make a difference. As you know, the U.S. Episcopal (Anglican) church does bless same-sex unions, and has refused, at its recently completed nationwide meeting, to change its policy of ordaining homosexual priests. I do understand that this is an important sacrifice for your minister/priest, to forego the church's blessing on his marriage to underscore his position. I hope the rest of your congregation is as supportive as you are.
That's ONE of the many reasons that I am proud to be an Episcopalian.
That is very cool, it's nice to see people stand up for what they believe!
