Ready to go home
We are leaving Rapid City today, to start heading home. We are still spending one more night in a hotel. I'm ready to go home, though. I miss my dog! We have had a great time and seen great sights, but I want my own bed and my dog. I'm glad we had a hotel, with an indoor pool, though. Yesterday, RC got up to 102! It was nice to swim without having to worry about sunburn. We had storms last night, so it's much cooler today. The Badlands were cool and much bigger and higher than I expected. Mountain roads, around Mt. Rushmore, were very scary for people more used to flat terrain, in WI. Oh, and on Saturday, and Sunday, it was soooo cold. We had to be bundled up. Then, we have 102 yesterday! LOL!
Dawn I can't believe you are coming home already. Seems like you just left. Have a safe trip back.
Other than missing my pup, I just hate the end of vacation, don't you?
We are ready to go home, though! We want our own beds and our regular computers. We drove from Rapid City, SD to La Crosse, WI today. It was crazy. Gary did want to stop at this one auto museum, on the way home and then we ate lunch, so that took a while. We were traveling for 13-1/2 hours. Yikes. Just for the record, La Crosse is in western WI, just over the Mississippi River. We have about 4 hours to travel yet, to get home. Our Super8 hotel has a 24-hour pool. The kids and I went swimming for about 20 minutes, from 1135 to 1155 pm! LOL! It was fun. We only got to our hotel, about 10:20pm, but all were hungry, so we went to Perkins for a little snack, first. Our only deadline tomorrow is checking out by 11am and getting home before 6am. Kids and I will probably swim once again, tomorrow, after breakfast, then take showers and go home.
Looking forward to seeing some pics from your trip, Dawn! Safe travels!
Have a safe trip home !
Well, we made it home! About an hour from home, we had a detour that sent us 18 miles north, instead of east, like we wanted to go, so I think it took us an hour longer go home. The detour wasn't there, when we left! Argh, but we are home now and quite impressed with how much the flowers grew, while we were gone! We pick up the dog, in an hour, so hopefully that goes by fast!
