Dying material help
This is the problem. I am helping dd's dance teacher do some animal costumes for recital. The dance teacher took a nude/off-white nylon leotard and dyed it brown. It is really splotchy. I don't want to finish the costume it looks so bad. How do I fix it? Will soaking it in warm water make the color blend better? Can I get some of the Rid dye remover, undye it and try to dye it again? I wish she had given it to me to start with, but now I have to fix it. I just can't let some little girl go on stage in a leotard that looks like this. Thanks for any help. And it has to be ready by Friday morning at 9 am.
Never mind. I decided to use my brain and Googled the phone number for RitDye. He said to go get the dye remover and start all over. Ugh! But if anybody has any other experience, post it anyway. I won't be going to the store for a few hours.
I'd go with the Rit. Good luck!
Did it re-dye ok?? Just curious
Well, I did the dye remover, but it didn't take much out. So I dyed once. Didn't look much better, thought it wouldn't hurt to try one more time. So I ran it thru a second dying process. It now looks alot better but still not what I would say as great. I want to go get a white leotard and make it a polar bear instead of a brown bear. But I can't get hold of her teacher. Their first rehearsal is Thursday and their dress rehearsal is Friday. If I can get the leotard in by Thursday, I'll do the little girl as the polar bear. The other thing that I am afraid of is I think that the dying process (have to use at least warm water) has shrunk the leotard.
