Are your children mature for their age?
I'm not sure if its just me, but my kids are very mature for thier age. I think it might have to do with the height that they each are, very tall, and society expecting more from them.
Of my 3, one is very mature for his age (the middle kid), the eldest is pretty average, although she has a very strong maternal instinct. The baby of the family is very immature. Strangely (or not so much) that directly relates to their sizes, the baby is very small for his age, the middle kid is big for his age, etc. So your theory holds true for my family.
Depends on the situation. My oldest can be the most mature little thing one minute and then act like a 2yo the next! lol My youngest is probably average. They're both small for their ages.
My oldest is pretty mature for her age in most ways, responsible and trustworthy but naive and very trusting of others. She's tall for her age. My ds is semi-immature and is also tall for his age. My youngest is definitely the baby of the family and is average height. She is definitely brighter than many of her peers but she's sensitive and dramatic and a bit of a crybaby.
I think my kids are mature. Emily complains about the kids at school, who she thinks are very immataure, and I think she wished they could just sit and listen, like she can. Emily is definitely sensitive and dramatic, but I think at school, she is a lot more quiet, than she is at home! LOL! Sarah is mature also and gets many accolades from teachers at school and stuff. They definitely do their homework and practice instruments without being told. Neither one of my kids is tall, though. No one is my family is tall! LOL!
My DD is very mature. Sometimes, I wish she'd be a little silly, but she is such a good kid and I always get compliments from teachers and people at church about how responsible and helpful she is.
My daughters are both VERY tall for thier ages. My oldest is very mature and thinks everyone at school is immature and wishes they would grow up. On the other hand, my youngest is very immature and she is actually the taller of the two (well in the sense that she is taller for her age than her sister was, not actually taller than her sister). I think a lot of it has to do with if they are the oldest or youngest in the family too. My youngest wants to be the baby still and tells me how she doesn't want to grow up and be a young lady.
I am always being told that my youngest seems very mature for his age? He isnt tall or short. He is avg. My middle ds is very mature in some ways. HE is avg height. My oldest can be very mature one day and very immature the next... He is not the shortest guy in his class but is on the shorter side of avg. lol IF that makes sense! He is one of the youngest in his class (summer bday).
My oldest is very mature for his age. He is introverted, serious, and a thinker. He is tall for his age...very skinny, but tall. My youngest is average as far as maturity. He is very social, outgoing, and just plan nutty, but also more of a "momma's boy" He is actually big for his age too. He is almost a head taller then most of the boys on his baseball team.
My 13 year old seems very mature compaired to a lot of the kids who are in her grade. I have had many other parents tell me this about her. She will be 14 in a month but, even teenage guys thinks she's older. She even looks older. My older DD just hates that becasue guys are checking her out also and I think she doesn't like the compitition.
