Please keep my Dad
in your thoughts and prayers. On Monday night he was carrying bags in from shopping and his hip gave out and he fell in his from yard. He used his cell phone to call me, because he couldn't get up. I got my DH and DS and they went to his house and I stayed on the cell with him. He was rushed to the hospital and had a parcial hip replacement yesterday at 5:30. The Dr. said the hip gave out and thats what made him fall. So more less the hip came out of the socket before he hit the ground He will be in the hospital for 3-4 days then to the nursing home for rehab. I am hoping to get in him the nursing home that is right behind my house. If they have a bed. Keep you fingers crossed for that, and please keep him in your thoughts and prayers for a full recovery. Dad is 71.
Hopes and prayers for a speedy recovery for your dad, Kathy. The good news is, very often, people do really well after hip replacement - he may feel better than he did before. My MIL had both hips replaced, and after physical therapy, was in much less pain and found it easier to walk. He will be in my thoughts. {{{{{{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}}}}

Ditto Karen. Hoping and praying you are able to get him as close to you as possible for a speedy recovery.

Thinking of you and your Dad {{{hugs}}}
Thinking of you and your dad. Ditto Karen - I have heard of so many people who actually feel better after the surgery and lead a more active life than they did before. I hope your dad mends quickly.
Ugh! What a scary phone call! I hope he makes it through!!! I'll say a prayer right now!!!
Dad is very sore from the surgery and tired. It is looking good for the nursing home up here where I live. His Doctor who we know very well said yesterday he will have a bed for him there. He is suppose to be transported to the nursing home tomorrow if he is feeling better today. I just feel so bad, I just talked to him and he said the pain is awful I told him to be sure and tell the nurses so they can give him something. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers that he will come through this ok. TIA
Sure will, hope he feels better soon. That is such a blessing to be able to get him that close to you. So you can walk to the nursing home I presume?
I can walk right through our back lot and the home is right there. 2 minute walk which would make it nice.
I'm sorry to hear this. My Aunt just got a hip replacement done and has had a lot of pain too. I know she was in a nursing home for therapy too, but she wasn't there for long. I hope he has a very speedy recovery!
How scary that must have been for everyone. I will say a prayer for him tonight and keep us updated as to how he is doing. (((((((((((hugs))))))))))
Kathy, when my MIL had the surgeries, she was on long acting (time release) pain meds for a while, until she got through physical therapy and recovered. Speak to his doctor. He probably needs an advocate. Just because you go on those type meds, doesn't mean you have to STAY on them forever. They are there for a reason. And another thing about them, when used as directed, many people don't get those *feelings* they get with immediate release meds, simply because they ARE time released. Just a thought. {{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}
