Plastic surgery
Not for me, something I saw on tv LOL... I started watching Dr 90210. I know some of these are older episodes. The one I just saw was a girl who was 33, who was very bottom heavy. She went into have liposuction on his inner and outer thighs. She did not go on any sort of diet before hand. She even stated she likes to eat a lot. Dr Li did her lipo and didnt comment at all about her not trying to lose weight first. I saw another episode when Dr Rey said he does not do lipo on just anybody, he would like them to diet first. Do you think it is cheating, just go in there and get it sucked out without trying a healthy eating and fitness plan first? The girl stated it was going to jump start her losing weight and she was going to start to exercise. Dont you think all that should of been done first? Am I the only one who thinks it is "Cheating" doing it this way first?
I guess it depends on the person. I think there probably are people out there who benefit from a *jump start*. However, it makes no sense to have a procedure like that and not change anything else in your life. And then there are those who DO diet & exercise but can't get rid of the cellulite, so maybe lipo is a good thing for them. I have mixed feelings on that whole topic, especially after seeing what can go wrong.............
Cheating? Cheating who? If someone has the money, and a willing doctor, and knows all the pros/cons beforehand, it's their concern/business. I guess I don't understand the 'cheating' implication. It may be UNINTELLIGENT or UNWISE to go into it like that, but it's certainly not cheating. And I do agree a jump start is a pretty good idea....some people really need that head start and when they see instant, wonderful results they may have added incentive to eat well, exercise, and KEEP their new body. Plastic surgery is usually an elective, unnecessary thing, so I don't think it really matters how someone approaches it as long as they take precautions. To me it's just a really expensive makeover (and not one I'm interested in).
I meant cheating in the way of jumping to it first, without practicing a healthy lifestyle first. The lady did say it was a way to jumpstart her body. That episode was over a year old, I wonder what the lady looks like now????
I agree that you need to diet and exercise before any body sculpting. Most plastic surgeons will NOT do lipo unless the patient has done their best to lose the fat deposits the "natural" way. The best candidate for lipo is someone who is in great shape, but has stubborn fat deposits. I'm posting anon, because I'm going to use my DH as an example. He works out 6 days a week, and is in excellent shape, but he and his brothers all have stubborn fat on their midsection and chest area, and it's something that makes him very self-conscious. We've discussed the possibility of liposuction, because this has always been a major issue for him. Anyway, back to the lady who had it done without losing weight first, liposuction will not "jump start" your body, you have a certain amount of fat cells, they grow if you gain weight, and shrink as you lose it. Liposuction is NOT for weight loss.
I know what you mean by "cheating" Jackie, and I agree with you by putting it that way. Ditto Karen and Anon.
The results can be seriously distorted if you have it done BEFORE losing weight, so you can end up spending all that money for nothing. That's just plain dumb...
