Heidi's thread on Myspace was removed from the board for the protection of the girl she posted about. Myspace profiles are not *crawled* by the google robots, etc. because it's a membership site. Momsview and the text in all of the posts at this board appear high up in search results and if someone did a search simply on just the word myspace, somewhere in the top 20 or 30 results would be the post on Momsview, which would link directly to her profile, and make it that much more accessible to strangers.

I realize you posted that with good intentions, i.e. to make other parents aware of the myspace danger, and I also realize you couldn't have known how easy it would be for the search engines to pick this up. So please do not take offense. In removing the posts, we have actually made it a bit safer for your former student.

Heidi, have you thought about contacting her parents??? She made no bones about putting all her personal information out there. And while the girl is now over 18, it appears that even she is not aware of how much danger she was putting herself in, and though her parents probably don't have any control over her life at this point, maybe a phone call from you might serve to open a conversation between them??? Just a thought.

Sorry for the removal, but after a discussion with Pam, we thought it was best in this case. Thanks for your true concern as a parent!!!

Hey Karen,
I figured you would remove it after I posted it! I realized afterwards that it would make it easier for people to access it. So, thanks, really. I just get real passionate about kids and predators, even if they're just over 18. Even 20 year olds are just "kids" sometimes, especially her. I was happy to hear though that she had been going to college.
I have been trying to get her parents phone number but they just moved. I'm waiting to hear back from one of her friends, via email.
