Family finds out coma patient isn't their daughter!
Have you guys seen the horrible story about the mix-up with the two college girls? They were among a van load of college students in an accident with a tractor trailor. One girl was killed. One girl was injured terribly and in a coma for several weeks/months. The family realized after the girl came out of a coma that she wasn't their daughter. There was a mistaken identity, and the one family had been told their daughter died, and she was actually the one in a coma. They had buried this family's daughter already, thinking she was their own daughter. They chose not to view her body because she was messed up so badly they wanted to remember her how she was before the accident. The girl in a coma had many bruises and bad swelling and both girls resembled each other in an uncanny way. Dental records have been taken and it is definite that the girls were mixed up! How tragic for the one family who has been caring for this girl all these weeks thinking they were nursing their daughter back to health when she has been dead all this time. Here's a link to the article and pictures of the girls: tragic mix-up
how sad for everyone. I can't even imagine.
Ohmigosh. What a mess.
wow, I can't believe it, how tragic...
Watch the Video This isn't the first time that this has happened here. Last year, there was another case of mistaken identity when two teen boys were involved in a car crash and one wound up in the hospital, the other dead.
Too sad.It should never have happened.
I read that on AOL this morning. That is heartbreaking - that one family lost their daughter *twice*.
I saw it on the news here last night. I am not that far from there. I grew up actually closer to Taylor University. My dad went there when he was in college. I can't imagine.
I didn't read the article before today, just heard about it. I didn't realize it was so close to me! Beth- I'm in Kokomo. The girls really DO look so much alike unfortunately, and the parents did identify the girls after the accident. What could anyone do? So tragic and sad for everyone. I just can't imagine what these families are going through.
Indiana coroner discusses mistaken identity incident Part 1 Indiana coroner discusses mistaken identity incident Part 2 The first video is about 25 minutes, and the second is a continuation and is about 10 min. I haven't watched the whole thing but it goes into a lot of detail.
Deanna, I guess when I say close I mean about 3 hours now. I grew up in Huntington though near Ft. Wayne and that is not far. I was born in Kokomo. I only lived there till I was like 2 though. So I don't remember it.
