Help me: Planning Birthday for 3 yr old
Hello Friends, I found this website recently and have been enjoying this forum a lot. My 3 yr old's son's birthday is coming up in June and wanted to organize a party for his friends. For the last 2 years, we only had a lunch or dinner theme followed by cutting a cake and giving our return gifts. We never had games or theme for the kid and he was small too. But this time we really want to plan a good one and moreover this is the right age too I guess for having games. We have a decent sized backyard to out end-unit townhome and can have some games/water sports there for the kids. I think I saw some fountain ball kind of a game where they could splash water and have fun. We though about the moon bouncer options but that might just be too big for the backyard. We are new to the US as well. So really appreciate all of your help and expert advise in making this birthday part a success for my son. Any suggestions in terms of what to do/include and how to do would be awesome. Any links/websites to specific toys/games that would be rented/bought from places like toysrus would be great too. Kids coming in would range from ages 1 to 7. I am more leaning towards a water-theme Thanks very much. Luv'Dodo
I would go with a water theme, especially if it's going to be hot. Kids love to be in the water and run through sprinklers. Welcome to the site and to the US!
birthday ideas Here is a link with some ideas. I only just found this website, scroll down to the ocean/water ideas. It might help.
Water balloons are always a hit!!!
Also, squirt guns!
If using water, don't do the moonbouncer...it will be too slippery. Remember to keep it sweet and simple. They are only 3 after all. Most people tend to over do on parties for little ones. It is designed for them, not the adults (at least at my house, we do it that way). The kids just want to play, eat and open presents so keep that the main focus. Do a couple games, eat the cake (or whatever), do the presents and the kids will be ready to go home. At that age, all my parties lasted only an hour. I can't even tell you how many moms told me how great our parties were. They loved that they had time to take the kids home for a nap before the end of the day. Too many times I have been at a party talking to my friend and both of us were in agreement of "can we just do the presents now? I really need to head home." I have always had a separate party for just family that could last longer for adults to sit and chat.
Thanks everyone for the welcome and ideas. Here's a picture of my son. Don't ask me why his hair is standing out .
He is soooo cute! He has a great smile.
