I'm going to my national convention in Miami in November. I've submitted 2 papers in hopes of presenting, but I'm still going regardless of if my proposals get accepted or not (won't know until mid-July). I've already got hotel arrangements and of course, there will be some time on the beach. I was just wondering if anyone had good recommendations of restuarants or must-see attractions. I was bummed that it was in Miami. I'd much prefer somewhere like Chicago, but the more I think about it the more excited I am getting. Any suggestions appreciated.

Never been to Miami, but it the name brings back memories of Don Johnson, white coats and pastel tshirts. I just saw a preview for a Miami Vice Movie.

Sorry Pam. I live closer to Fort Lauderdale. I only go to Miami for cruises. There is a nice Zoo--Miami Metro zoo. If you plan on traveling to another town, I can recommend some fun things in the Fort Lauderdale area.

You might see if there's a Fodor's City Pack for Miami. Those are great little guidebooks that are really just summaries of the top 10 or 20 sights. They also include a good map and general necessary info, too, like restaurants and getting around.

Sorry Pam, I'm just like Yvonne, been there to board cruise ships, and flying in and out of the Miami airport a number of times. All I have seen of Miami is the airport, cruise ship terminal, rental car lots and interstate.

My family goes to florida a few times a year and started driving to Miami on our last few trips. It is still new to me but I think its a lot of fun. Depends what you like. We've been going to South Beach, the shops, saw Versaces mansion (outside). Last trip we visited the Metro zoo and it was awesome. November is a great time of the year too.
