David Blaine
Did anyone else watch David Blaine tonight? For some reason he just fascinates me and I heard it was tonight so I had to watch, I NEVER veg out in front of the tv for 2 hours but that is just what I did tonight. I have to admit I was skeptical that he could do it but after watching, I honestly think that had he NOT spent a week in the water and had to get out of the chains he would have done it. He was doing GREAT until he had to start working on them, I think his body just had enough by that point. Anyways, did anyone else watch him? Does anyone else think he's interesting too?
Yes, agreed... And I was thinking the same thing.. He seemed to be completely drained when the show started.. I honestly didn't think he would make it out of the chains... To much effort on an already broke down body.. He struggled so hard to get the first cuffs off.. I told MIL there was no way he would be able to bend over, hold his breath and get the cuffs off of his ankles not with the effort it took with his wrists.. think how hard it is to bend over and tie your shoes while still breathing when you are wore out... It broke my heart when he started crying.. then when he is standing on the ground and the Doctor asks him to sit so he could do his vitals and he asked "did I do it." it broke even more.. Realizing he didn't know until that point that he not only couldn't get himself out of the cuffs but he wasn't able to stay under the full 9 minutes... He is hot and he could preform magic for me any time.. LOL I bet he tries it again...
I'm with Bobbie, I adore him, he's gorgeous and talented!! Watching him struggle made me want to cry, and seeing him start crying was too much. I honestly think that he would have rather died in there than be rescued, and even though he didn't break the record, he still completed an amazing feat no other human has... AGAIN. I was really ticked to see the wire reports of his "failure"... rather than focusing on what he accomplished against all odds.
I am mesmerized by David Blaine for some reason!! His voice just turns me into a zombie. I didn't see it lastnight unfortunately.
LOL...i think he is just creepy weird. I always wondered how he kept getting these shows. Now I know
I think he is gorgeous too and you are right Deanna there is something about that voice. :-) I think he will try it again and hopefully he won't add so much added pressure with the other stunts and just do the breath one. I was pretty miffed this morning to see his stunt being seen as a "failure" rather than what he did do? He DID break a record for the water didn't he? That alone is an incredible feat in itself.
I don't know about the water bit. But I did read that he held his breath for a little over 7 minutes, the record is 8. However having to be rescued puts that in a different catagory. I am sure there is at least one person who fell into water and was saved that was under at least 9 minutes, but I am not certain of that.
I'm sorry but i think he is a Freak! His magic amazes me, but when he does stupid stunts like the one last night, he just creeps me out. I just don't understand why anyone would put their life in jeopardy for a stupid world record. But i have to admit, i watch a little bit last night.
I have a strange fascination with him while being creeped out all at the same time. I think the "stunts" he performs are an amazing way to test his body to every possible limit but my favorite part of his shows are when he just goes out in public and performs. The tooth trick he did in the "casino" (I'm not sure where he was) was mind-blowing!!! BTW, I think he has a great body but his eyes and voice freak me out!
For those of you who can't understand why he does it, his idol is Harry Houdini, and he's made it his goal to push himself to the very limits of endurance. He does intensive training, this time he trained with the Navy SEALS. Kaye, he stayed under for 7:08, the record was 8:85, however they showed a story about an experienced freediver who attempted a stunt, it went wrong, they got her to the surface in just about 8 minutes, and she still died, just to show how difficult it was. He was in liver failure, along with a bunch of other ailments from the week in the globe when he atttempted to escape and hold his breath that long. Really terrifying!!
I don't understand the desire to do life threatening public stunts. His goal is to push the very limits of his endurance? Fine, then do it in a manner that is highly honored and actually accomplishes something worthwhile. Just one example, join the SEALS. I saw the previews but that was enough for me.
Why? (I'm with Trina!)
Why do any entertainers do anything?? Because American (and the world) expects to be entertained.
Well, I wasn't, since I was busy doing other stuff and didn't watch it! LOL!
