Do you use a skin care line that you can RAVE about?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive May 2006: Do you use a skin care line that you can RAVE about?
By Mrsheidi on Sunday, April 30, 2006 - 11:12 pm:

I've got forehead wrinkles already and I'm just really ready to "reverse" the aging process.

Have you heard of anything spectacular or do you use something that has produced results for you?

Maybe certain vitamins, etc? Not looking for anyone to sell me anything, but any recommendations?

By Andi on Monday, May 1, 2006 - 12:13 am:

I just started using L'Oreal Revitalift moisturizer/firming cream on Friday. I really like it so far, I will let you know how it works.
I have a friend that loves it and she RAVES about the L'Oreal Revitalift/Collagen Filler. I am planning on buying some of that this week for the wrinkles on my forehead and around my eyes.

Philosophy! I used to use Estee Lauder stuff a number of years ago and stopped buying it because of the cost. I recently used Olay products for a couple of years, and for the last few months I've been using Philosophy. SUCH a difference!

By Vicki on Monday, May 1, 2006 - 07:19 am:

I am also a Philosophy girl!! LOVE their products and notice a huge difference. I started using them about a year or so ago. Their cleanser is the BEST I have ever used.

By Karen~moderator on Monday, May 1, 2006 - 07:34 am:

Ditto that!

I am thinking about trying the Arbonne proooooducts. Both my sisters use it and like it.

By Momofmax on Monday, May 1, 2006 - 08:09 am:

Where do you get Philosophy - mall or drugstore? Just curious - I'd like to give it a try. I've used Arbonne and still use the foot cream and face powder. A bit pricey for the amount you get but the product is very good.

Arbonne RE9 all the way!!!!!

By Melanie on Monday, May 1, 2006 - 11:14 am:

I've been using Arbonne for a year and absolutely love it. :)

Some of the high end department stores carry Philosophy. But none close to me. I get most items on QVC but order some directly from philosophy.com

Love, love, love Bioelements from the salon. I think they have stores in bigger cities, in the salon here. "Jet Travel" is AWESOME for the lines around the eyes.

Apparently my o key stuck??? rofl That should read simply 'products'...

By Karen~moderator on Monday, May 1, 2006 - 04:07 pm:

QVC or direct from Philosophy. QVC runs specials that you can lock in the price if you get it on auto-delivery.

I think Sephora.com carries Philosophy, too. My DD uses something by L'Oreal that she loves. I think it is some kind of micro-dermabrasion kit. She gets it at Walmart. Me, I use "Kiss My Face" daily moisturizer. It is fragrace-free and PABA free. It has an SPF15 sunblock, but it is zinc oxide (like the lifeguards put on their nose). I just love it because it is all natural. It has aloe, olive oil, vitamin E and ingredients like that. I also gave some to my DD to use on baby GD, 15 months old. You get it in health food stores, or from drugstore.com

Yes, Sephora carries Philosophy. I love it!

I love Olay Total Effects. I use the face wash and the moisturizer. I've noticed a positive difference in my skin!

By Kay on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 - 11:36 am:

I use the Obagi Skin Care line for basic skin care, because I had melasma, and it cleared my skin and took away the brown spots. I don't even wear foundation any more, just a little powder and blush. Being 47, my goal is to wear less and less makeup- in my mind, nothing worse than makeup settling into the creases as we get older.

By Debbie on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 - 01:08 pm:

Kay, I have melasma too. How long did it take the Obagi products to take away the brown spots? I am started to notice a few on my face and would like something to fade them.

By Kay on Wednesday, May 3, 2006 - 03:12 pm:

I started the Obagi system last July, and the fading began after a few weeks. I'm still using the 5-step system, because the exfoliation seems really good for my skin.

Just wanted to add, I ordered some stuff from the philosophy site and it came yesterday - namely the Pigment of Your Imagination and some sun screen and stuff. I have sun damage on my neck/upper chest area that is what my sister calls *the Ethel Kennedy skin* - you know what I mean, it's not tan or freckled exactly, but sort of darker or redder or something - certainly moreso than the rest of my skin. So I'm trying this stuff to see if there's an improvement and it fades.. And I always wear sunscreen now when I go out, but the damage is done, and it seems to not help.

I actually just bought some 70 SPF stuff in the pharmacy yesterday too, to try on those areas. Anyway, I have high hopes for this Philosophy stuff. I hope it works!

By Mrsheidi on Friday, May 5, 2006 - 08:05 am:

Thanks everyone! I'm going to try some of this! :)

By Hol on Thursday, May 11, 2006 - 11:21 pm:

Does anyone know if "Hope in a Jar" from Philosophy has any fragarnce to it? I would love to try it, but I cannot use ANYTHING on my face that has any fragrance at all.
I'd appreciate any info. Thanks.

By Shellyg on Thursday, May 11, 2006 - 11:30 pm:

I use and love Origins stuff. I have been using it for years.

By Hol on Thursday, May 11, 2006 - 11:37 pm:

Shelly - I LOVE Origins mascara. It doesn't smear, and is safe for contact lenses.

By Karen~moderator on Friday, May 12, 2006 - 10:44 am:

Hol, a VERY very mild fragrance. I have sensitive skin, and my eyes are extremely sensitive to fragrances, etc. in face products. I have no trouble with the Philosophy products.

By Hol on Friday, May 12, 2006 - 09:51 pm:

Thanks Karen. Yes, my eyes are the problem, too, with anything with fragrance near my eyes.

By Karen~moderator on Saturday, May 13, 2006 - 10:01 am:

The fragrance is not like one of those perfumy fragrances. I think it's more from what the stuff is made of. It's so mild, and doesn't linger.
