New Home Traditions
I know several of us are moving in the near future and I wondered if any of you have any fun traditions or "Welcome to the New House" ideas for our families. We're moving from a house that was supposed to be temporary (four years ago) to a home that we hope to be in for ten or more years and I'd love to make the moment special. The only ideas I've come up with are having a small family celebration on our first night in the new place and then celebrating the anniversary each year or taking pictures of the kids in front of the house each year to show how they've grown. Neither idea is quite what I'm looking for. Any help?
I know that once our current house was officially ours, we went to Subway, got food, and went "home" to sit and eat it on the floor, like a picnic. Is that what you mean? We spread out a blanket on the kitchen floor.
We always buy a christmas ornament for our new home when we move. What about getting a planter, or door plaque type thing that is personalized and have the kids next to it? You could do that yearly. Honestly we have moved enough that we enjoy being in a new home, but we also try not to give too much significance to "the walls" because it makes it harder to say good bye

I don't know exactly what I wanted but I feel like we'll finally be somewhere that feels like "home" and wanted to be able to celebrate (and remember it in the future) somehow. I spoke to DH about it and I think we're going to have a special dinner the first night that we'll repeat each year and take a picture of the kids in front of the house each year. Thanks for the ideas.
I take pictures by the sunflowers every year, on the first day of school! It's kind of a fun thing to do! First Day of School 1999 (yeah, I should probably update the pic! LOL! It's the start of 2nd and 5th grade!)
