Do you ever have a "Wow" moment?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive April 2006: Do you ever have a "Wow" moment?
By Luvn29 on Saturday, April 22, 2006 - 09:28 pm:

My DD has to wear make-up for her performances coming up next week for the Children's Theatre she's in. They have been rehearsing 5 hours a night since January. They are performing School House Rock, Jr. twice daily three days next week for all of the surrounding schools to come to, and then she has a third performance next Friday night for the Public. It's a huge thing here. There are auditions for a part and everything. So we are very proud.

Anyhow, all of the performers have to wear make-up because they will be under huge stage lights. So they have to have base, full eyes, blush, and lipstick. This is the first time she has ever worn make-up. Needless to say, dh is not happy, and I have had to explain to him the reasoning behind his baby girl having to wear make-up. teehee!

So tonight, we decided to give it a trial run since she has to be at the auditorium at 8:30 in the morning those three days, and this week will be very hectic, so we wanted to know what we were doing and make sure the colors would work and everything. She's very fair skinned, and she has very blonde hair and blue eyes, so I chose browns for the eyeliner and mascara instead of black. After finishing, I looked at her and was stunned. She has really lost her baby face somewhere along the line and just looked beautiful. She was afraid to let her daddy see her, but he surprised her and told her to come into the light so he could see her better and then gave her a kiss and told her she looked beautiful. She was beaming.

After she walked out of the room, he told me she's going to be a heartbreaker. Then he told me after this, she's never allowed to wear make-up again!!!

I couldn't believe how much it changed her looks. I think I might have to agree with him! I want to keep my little girl!

They brings tears to my eyes.

And I was thinking about the being a heartbreaker comment. She'll break her daddy's heart soon enough. When she says just a kiss on the cheek, daddy or something like that. They grow up way too fast.

If you haven't already done so, post a pic if you can.

I love those WOW moments.I had one last night with my DD.Friday night is our girl night. We decided to watch a movie and eat popcorn in her room.As we were talking she kept looking deep into my eyes and really listening to what I had to say.I was trying to talk but was so mesmerized(sp?)by her face.I couldn't help think how beautiful she is and how much she has grown in the last few months.I was just in awe of her last night and I felt really good about us and that we're doing ok.

Our DD's will always be Mommy and Daddy's girls.

We had a very similar WOW moment. My DD has been in dance since she was 2. We do our dance recital on a theatre stage where all of the broadway musicals that come around perform on. It's a huge theatre. She's had to wear make up for all of them. Side note: Ever try to put eye shadow on a 2 y/o? Not fun.

Anyway, 2 years ago, she had her hair done professionally. Once her make up was on,it didn't even look like my DD. My DH & MIL were standing in the lobby and were staring at DD. MIL turns to me and says, "That little girl over there is so beautiful." DH & MIL didn't even recognize her. They both misted up when she came over and gave them hugs.

Post pics if you can. I love recital and theatre pics. Maybe our girls can live in the same closet and their dad's can take turns guarding them :)

I would love to see a picture too. And my son is already planning to put Brooke in the same closet - probably when she's about 7.

Awww... I will definitely be taking pics. The costumes are very casual with it being schoolhouse rock. T-shirts, jeans, and matching converse tennis shoes. And their hair is to be fun, so dd is going to be in bouncing piggy tails with matching ribbons! (yay! I can get away with this again!). But she does get to wear a costume for her part as Hydrogen in the planets song... so she is excited about that...

I'd love to post a pic.

About that closet....Sounds like our girls will have good company, huh??? teehee!
