Grass resistant to the dog wearing it down?
I fear there is no hope for my poor yard. The back yard looks awful. Does anyone know any grass that is resistant to the paths that he makes? Thanks
Astro turf?? teehee We have 3 dogs. Which means lots of fertilizer? ;) I am not sure!! Our backyard is a scary place. We need to pour sidewalks that come from the front to the back and landscape. But my young dog will RUIN the landscaping, so we are waiting a couple more yrs on that.
Nothing you can do about it, unfortunately. We laugh at the paths our dog has made in the yard. She has *night* paths and *day* paths - and if you knew the dog, you'd understand what I'm saying! ROFL
We definitely have a path around the garage! LOL! And you can see where she peed all winter. Oh well. I really don't care. My house is never going to be in House Beautiful anyway. Most of this isn't visible from the street anyway. She only rarely goes to the bathroom down near the sidewalk.
We have kenneled our dog. It's a large enclosure 20' x 10' with a concrete base. She's not happy about it but I take her to the greenbelt everyday for a run. If you do decide to kennel your dog, once your grass grows back you can let the dog out for some superized play each day, throw the ball around etc. If you want to see a picture of how we have done it let me know and I'll post a photo. Good luck, hope you find something that works for you.
Our dog paths are just around our fence line, so it works out perfectly for us! We kill the grass along there anyway. Plus, our dogs are really inside dogs. They go out to potty and to play. Never really out for more than an hour at a time, and that's a long time. Usually 30min. or so unless we're all outside. Now, the raccoons are a different story! We have a path that goes across the entire front yard from the raccoons who live under our driveway. (Oh, did I forget to mention that's because my idiot neighbor has been feeding them for 6 years??Aarrgghhh.) Short of kenneling them, I'm not sure what you can do!
My dog stays inside the house with us. She isn't outside on the grass, except to go potty. she doesn't like to be outside by herself, at all! LOL! I guess she has us trained, huh?
