Plantar wart.....ugh.......any experience?
My dd has one on the bottom of her foot. Had no idea what was going on until we went to doctor. He froze it and said to soak it, file it and put compound W on it twice a day. He said on the bottom of the foot they are very tough to get rid of. It's only been a few days and I pretty tired of it, but we really want it gone!!! So, has anyone been through this? Have an idea of how long it will take? Any other tried and true remedies? TIA for any help, suggestions. Laura
My MIL had one, but it was surgically removed. It must have been deep. Sorry for your DD though.
We went through this a couple of months ago.We bought Occlusal-HP-OTC in Canada. It really didnt take long to get rid of it.The doctor applied something first and then we used this. She now has to wear water shoes at the public swimming pool where we think she got it from.If this doesn't work I read in Readers Digest that putting duct tape on it for 1 month will remove it.I would of tried this but I didnt need to.It was very painful for my DD b/c hers was also on the bottom of her foot, she had 2.Good Luck I heard they're hard to get rid of.Thank God it didnt take long for us.
My son had two! We used the Compound W bandages for kids. It said it could take up to 2 weeks but it was gone in 3 days.
I've known several people or their kids who had to have them cut out. I have a cousin who had a lot of them, and she had hers surgically removed as well. We tried the Occlusal for a wart on Jen's hand years ago and it did absolutely nothing. She ended up having it frozen off, but it took 2 times to get rid of it. I think surgically removing it actually heals quicker than freezing them. When Jen had the wart frozen off, it took forever to heal and there was a hole in her hand so it was very painful.
My DS had one on his heel. Our ped. recommended putting duck tape on it and/or plantar wart drops/bandages. If that didn't work after several weeks he told us to see a podiatrist. I had just scheduled DS for an appt. with a podiatrist when it fell out. LOL!

Two of my kids had them a few years ago. The doc froze them several times, and I scraped them at home. It took quite some time to get rid of them. Now my oldest has one. The doc froze it once, and I bought the stuff to do it at home until it's gone.
my daughter had several of them on one foot; I ended up taking her to the foot doctor where he gave her a series of injections which were very painful but did do the trick. It took a few months for them to go away though. I have also heard of the duct tape method; sounds crazy but I have heard that it works!
I have had a plantar wart for about 5 yrs! I've tried all the over-the-counter remedies and some of the non traditional ones (duct tape) and still had a wart on my foot about the size of a nickle. I had read somewhere that aloe vera is being studied for killing the virus that causes these warts, so I figured why not. I clean the area with alcohol first then apply clear aloe vera gel that I got at Walmart (nothing fancy) and cover it with a bandaid. I repeat this every other day. About once a week I kind of scrap the top layer off with the side of a tweezer, not too deep and stop if it hurts. I've been doing this for 6 weeks and the wart is almost gone!! Imagine my delight! I hope this helps someone else. Let me know if it does. Good luck
Thanks! We are still fighting it but it is much smaller. My MIL says garlic will get rid of it so we have been trying that too.
