I am looking to buy a home computer (a laptop) better for space reasons. Tell me if what I have below is a good deal please. Don't know how great of a deal it is. But we own two dells and have been very happy with them. The one I am on, we bought in 2002 and it still seems to keep up just fine.
Dh is an IT director. Whenever anyone wants a computer they call him. If he is to busy to help them he always refers them to Dell's website, they usually have pretty good deals.
We are on our 5th Dell - 4 laptops in all, and are very happy. The only downside I see is that you won't have a really fast processor, your display panel isn't the largest, and the biggest downfall, is you have WP word processor only, not something like Microsoft Office, etc. But if those things are not issues for you then it should be fine. I just bought a Dell laptop last month, but my needs are different, and I got the True Life Wide Display, and 2 GB of RAM and some other things, because I'm going to be running Photoshop, etc. And the best thing was that when I bought mine, it was offered @ 18 months interest free, plus it came with a free Dell DJ Ditty. Are they offering anything like that with yours?? Sounds like for the price, you are good to go.
Screen size doesn'tother me. I have the disk for all MS programs to download once I get it home. I want to be able to do my wedding invites on it on a printshop type program that I also have to download. 1GB should be OK for this right?
Well my DH is a computer geek and he says dells are normally pretty good but you should try entering your search a few different ways because you can get different prices out of thier site sometimes for the same machine. Good luck with your shopping. And that is a pretty nice system for the price. :-)
I have had my Dell desktop (Dimension 8100) since July 2001. It does have a different hard drive and the original sound card died, but it is still running fine.
Tonya, 1 GB of RAM is plenty for that!
I only have 512 RAM and a 1.3 GHZ processor, and I do fine! My only complaints are that Paint Shop Pro (graphics) and Dreamweaver (web page editor) take a long time to open. Once open, they work fine, though. In my house, though, DH has a 2.4 ghz and Sarah has a 2.6 ghz! I have the slowest computer in the house!
The processor is on the slow side but if you're not playing big games on the laptop then that's no problem at all. I like Dells and they've got great service.Sounds good.
