Chicken Soup
Both my munchkins are sick so today I made some chicken soup. I put diced baby carrots and rice in mine. I can't wait until it's ready. What are your favourite chicken soup ingredients?
Celery, onions and kohlrabi and a hint of sherry.
My family likes Chicken corn soup. I got the recipe from my DH's mom. I heard it is a Pennsylvania-Dutch thing because I had never heard of it before. It's just chicken, corn, and egg noodles. And I boil the chicken and pick it and use the broth as a base. Yum!! Sorry to hear that your munchkins are sick.
Chicken, celery, carrots, onions, and noodles. Hope your munchkins feel better soon.
{{{HUGS}}} Sorry your little ones are sick! Hope they're better soon. DD and I made chicken soup awhile ago that was very good. I was surprised because the recipe came from a children's cookbook and was very simple. I'll have to see if I can dig it up.
Aaawww thanks you guys, they are not terribly sick just colds. Cameron woke up every 2 hours last night, poor little munchie and poor Mommy who had to re-insert the soother, if DH didn't have to work tomorrow I think we'd switch sides of the bed. I just got Cameron sleeping through the night for the past week and now he's all messed up. I wanted to see what everyone put in their soup, it's such a simple thing but everyone makes it differently. Bea I would have never thought of kohlrabi, it's not readily available here in the stores. I haven't had since I was a child, my Grandmother used to grow it in her garden. I would have never thought of corn either I'll have to try both.
So sorry to hear your babies are sick on Easter. No soup recipes, but I hope they bounce back quickly!
HaHa Karen, bounce back quickly, cute.
Ooh, I love chicken soup. We put celery, onions, garlic, carrots, and I like dumplings or acini di pepe pasta. Small, BB sized pasta. It's my favorite thing to eat when I have a sore throat. I hope the boys are feeling better soon.
Sorry the boys aren't feeling well. I love making chicken soup. I like to start with chicken breasts and thighs...with bones. The breasts give great chicken meat and the thighs add meat but also the fat adds to the flavor. I add onion, celery, carrots, peas, pepper/salt and sage. I like to serve the soup with a hearty egg noodle like kluski but if I don't make my own (since I can't find any here) then I use fresh fettucini noodles that I break in fourths. It's getting too hot here for soup I'm getting into the BBQ/salads mode.
