My dad - need ideas
Tomorrow is my dad's last day of work. He has worked at the same company for 43 years and they are not doing anything at all for his retirement. My sister and I are taking him out to dinner to celebrate, but not til May (he's booked til then). I want to have something waiting for him at his house when he gets home. Balloons or something, need some ideas....TIA
Does he have any hobbies-Maybe do a theme for his favorite hobby.
The Boston Red Sox, but I can't get tickets in time. That would have been a good idea if I had thought of it earlier.....any other ideas?
What does he like to do in his spare time?Does he like to read, garden, golf, fish. It would be nice to do a theme where he can get some use out of it.Will he still be a busy man after retirement or will he have some downtime?
Hmm.. watches sports, likes gourmet food and he loves to cook.
Order the tickets and make your own to give to him with all of the information on it for the game he is going to. And maybe a shirt to wear to the game.
Let me think!!!
How about a cooking theme.Does he have an indoor grill? Maybe an apron with a retirement saying on it.How about some new spices/seasonings/cookbooks/barbecue utensils???
That sounds great! Thanks so much! Tonya, I tried your idea, but every time I picked a day, tickets were unavailable.
Colette, you may still be able to get tix, people who have seats and need to sell them offer them on places like StubHub, that's where I bought our Sixers tickets, and sold them when our trip was cancelled.
Don't forget to try ebay you can do a buy it now transaction there too. I have sold tickets there for MIS here in Michigan when we don't go.
No suggestions, but I can't believe after that length of time, the company isn't acknowledging him! That is just WRONG!
Maybe a cake with the Boston Red Sox logo on it, Red Sox balloons, and a Red Sox jersey to go with it. You could get creative on your computer and print up a letter for him announcing your plans to get tickets and on the top of the letter get the Red Sox logo to make it look like letterhead. OH! And just to show up those soon-to-be former co-workers, send him a great big bouquet of flowers and balloons AT HIS WORKPLACE.
Great idea Lisa!!!!!!
that is a really good idea, but he works in a welding type place so I don't think it would work out. thanks for all of the help!
