What kind of interior paint (walls etc) is the best when you have little kids ... easily cleanable? Thanks!

By Reds9298 on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 - 01:44 pm:

I use satin on everything, never, never, never flat. Glossy on my trim. Satin washes very well and glossy even better, but the glossy look on walls is only in my kitchen and bathroom for easy clean-up. HTH :)

Benjamin Moore eggshell always and ditto NEVER flat.

I use eggshell. It is between a flat and satin. I like the way it looks, and it still cleans well.

Benjamin Moore has an new washable flat if you like the look.

Never flat. Paint is an easy thing to re-do. I went to Menards and purchased the Disney Kids paints and had them tinted to the shades I needed. They clean up wonderfully and don't look too glossy. I did my entire house in them since I have 2 kids, 3 dogs, a DH who acts like a kids, and anywhere between 2 and 10 kids over on the weekends. I just take a damp cloth and wipe up whatever is on the wall.

I figure when my kids are older I can alwasy change paint styles but for now my lifestyle dictates that I go with simple and easy to clean.

I'll have to look into that Cori! I love flat paint. :)

And to think I was going to use flat paint - suggested by my interior decorator friend. She said it was cheap but still cleanable just not scrubbable. I'm so glad I asked you guys. Thanks.

You can use flat paint, certainly in the past it was a no no but paint manufactureres have stepped up and are now meeting consumer demands for flat washable paints, here is one of the manufacturers:

Regal Matte Finish

You friend was not incorrect, as a decorator she probably knows the market better than most.:)

By Reds9298 on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 - 07:32 pm:

I haven't heard of the Regal Matte Finish. Regular flat does not clean at all though! :)
I use the Signature Series at Lowes and LOVE it, if you're wanting brands.
