Help!
DS's school is studying immigration, Ellis Island, etc.. He came home with a notice from school today saying... It is now time to begin collecting your costume for your immigrant character. Look for clothes that will represent the early 1900's era... Another sheet stated that this costume is needed for Thursday, April 13th. That's THIS Thursday! Apparently they will be doing a re-creation of Ellis Island. This is the first I've heard of this. Why did they give us such short notice?! I e-mailed his teacher letting her know I would have appreciated being informed of this a week or two ago. How the heck are we going to come up with a costume by then?! DS's immigrant character: Phillipe Claude (39), from Lyons, France. Any ideas?? HELP!
I don't sew, so the first thing I would do is check with the high school's performing arts department and see if they have any costumes they would lend out, or if they know of anywhere to go for costumes.
Oh, goodness... they really put you in a spot!! I have no idea what to suggest, but good luck!!
First thought is a sport coat with a beret. HTH
Wow, that isn't much warning! When Sarah was in 4th grade, they had an old-fashioned classroom school trip. She already knew that one girl's mom had made her a dress, so I was strongly encouraged to make her a dress. I made the dress and bonnet, within a week and had the pinafore done by Thanksgiving! Sarah's Dress 1 Sarah's Dress 2 I couldn't have pulled it off in 3 days, though! Sheesh!
