Comedy Clubs
Anybody ever go to any comedy clubs? I remember going to some before I got married. In a couple of weeks my local playgroup is having a moms night out at the Funnybone Comedy club. They opened a new one about 6 months ago about 2 blocks from my house. Well I checked the schedule and Caroline Rhea is going to be there that weekend. She is the lady from Sabrina the teenage witch. I suggested to the other ladies in the group that we should get our tickets ASAP. I dont want to be the first to buy in case others decide its a no go. But, I am totally excited LOL..yes I dont get out much. My husband would love to go to a comedy club, but since we dont really do sitters, expecially at night he will stay at home with the kids LOL Hey Kristie, if you read this, you are welcome to join us
I haven't been in a while but we always loved comedy clubs. I bet Caroline Rhea is pretty funny. The funniest I ever saw was Emo Philips, Judy Tanuta, and Bobby Collins.
Yep...there are some great ones in Indy. We laughed our butts off!
I really enjoyed the comedy club we have here, although we don't get very many big names. I think Caroline Rhea would be a lot of fun to see. I've heard she's kind of...crude, at least in interviews, FWIW.
I think I've been to a comedy club about 5 times and once or twice was funny. When we went to NY in November we went to the Improv and it was horrible. The routines were very profane and incredibly sexually explicit. We were packed in like sardines and when the comics weren't getting laughs they started picking on members of the audience---and much of it was simply mean, not funny. They kept blaming us (the audience) for the lack of "energy" in the room. DH and I were like, "well, tell us something funny and then we'll laugh." A couple of months ago though I got to see my favorite, Jerry Seinfeld, in concert and he was absolutely hilarious! Hope you have fun! If nothing else, it's always fun to be out with the girls. I would think Caroline Rhea would be pretty funny.
I saw Martin Lawrence at the Improv a few years ago. It was one of the funniest nights of my life. What an experience! I still have never been with DH and want to go. I know he'd love it.
I love comedy clubs. Not that we go very often, LOL. Years ago, dh and I saw Anthony Clark (Yes, Dear) in Boston shortly before he was on the sitcom, Boston Commons. Have a great time!
I think Caroline Rhea would be a blast to see. Anthony Clark is hilarious, Melanie. We've gone to a few standup shows but not in a while. I used to go to shows in Boston many years ago beofre I was married. I listen to the comedy station on my XM radio in the car; when the kids are not with me. I laugh out loud most days! LOL
Pam, Jerry Seinfeld is one of my favorites, too! Hope you have a really fun time, Jackie!
We love comedy shows. We have gone probably 10-15 times since we married. A couple were not too funny. Only one was just crude. It really depends on the venue we think. Disney pleasure island has an improv that is great. We even went to an improv in vegas (second city) that was very clean. Second city is one of the feeder improvs for Saturday night live. We also used to have a local hotel that hosted comedians once a month, for 10 bucks we could see two comedians. The one crude one we saw was there and they made him end his set early.
Kaye, Second City is in Baton Rouge and performed last night and tonight. We thought about going last night, but the "cheap seats" were $30 each. Add in a babysitter and that's too much right now with all of the home improvement we've got going. I would have love to have seen them though.
We have a comedy club just 10 minutes from our house. We go several times a month. It's a small place and they rarely get the big names. Our son bought us a VIP card for Christmas, which means we never pay the cover. He and his girlfriend and some of their friends often join us there, and we invite our friends to go. It always seems funnier with a crowd...a burger and two comics are a perfect night out.
