Gift suggestion for a 75th birthday
What do you get a woman who is turning 75? They are having this big fancy party for her?
Gift certificate to favorite restaraunt, spa, grocery store or even Walmart--if she shops there frequently.
To add to Yjja123's good suggestions, how about postage stamps and blank greeting cards? I remember having a chat about gifts with my dear great aunt. She commented that at her age she already had many things and certainly didn't need any more knick knacks, etc.. LOL! She said with her limited income she appreciated things she could actually use like postage stamps, stationary and gift cards to her salon, grocery store, drugstore, etc.. HTH.
What about a special photo album or a small scrapbook of a special time in her life?
My Grandmother is turning 80 this year and I'm hoping to do either a scrapbook for her with photos of her great grandchildren.
The photo album or scrapbook would be my choice. Find as many as you can of family members, friends, and people who know her and ask her to contribute to it. How about taking her out to lunch at her favorite restaurant - make up a nice card on the computer and make it a certificate good for being taken to lunch at XXX on a date of your choice?
Or - I am guessing she may not be driving much any more. How about coupons good for one trip to the grocery store, one trip to the doctor's office, etc. And make as many as you think you can handle.
A friend of mine asked all of the family members to write a letter to their elderly grandmother but give the letters to my friend. She took the letters, typed them up on antiquey paper and put them in a scrapbook. Then each person read their old letter to her at the party and they gave her the book afterward. Very sentimental.
Are you close to her?
Look on ebay for memorabilia from the town she grew up in and/or the year she was born, etc.
Sorry ladies that it took me so long to respond. Bobbie- she is my DH's aunt. She is more like a mom to him than his own mom She still drives. She is a very independent woman. The gift certificates sound good. She is from Sicily.
