20 Year Anniversary--- How to Celebrate???
Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: 20 Year Anniversary--- How to Celebrate???
Jim & I will be celebrating 20 years this April and we had planned on doing something really special for the past few years - like an all inclusive trip to a beach resort in another country but since I took my leave of absence things have kind of been put on hold. Jim didn't get his passport and we didn't make any reservations. So - does anyone have any suggestions on what we can do to still make this special? We can't have a party with my current circumstances. But I would LOVE to get away....
Do you want to stay local? or go away? I haven't stayed in the four seasons. I would go warm and stay in the four season. or go somewhere you both want to go for a week. a cruise by yourself. we love cruises. somewhere warm. Anywhere florida or warm. Do you need a passport for Puerto Rico?
Hawaii for two weeks! You deserve it!
CRUISE??? WE have never done a cruise - do you have any suggestions??? Which line? Where to go? How long? I have NO IDEA about cruises...I like that idea. I'm afraid Hawaii would be too expensive. I prices airfare there and that was $1600 alone! I could spend that better somewhere else! I DEF was someplace WARM - I wanted TROPICAL with white sand beaches & turquoise water...and tons of food & drink...but don't see that happening. UGH!!! CRUISE sounds good - BUT NEED HELP!!
WOW ... our anniversary is in April as well, not quite 20yrs, but hey .... every anniversary is a reason to celebrate! Do you have to worry about your girls or do you have family/friends who would stay with them so you could enjoy yourself worry-free. This might impact how far away you want to go. April in FL is VERY nice, not too hot, but warm enough to enjoy being outside .... OR the Keys .... I haven't been but it's beautiful, calm clear water, not quite Hawaii, but as close as you can get without flying over an ocean .... A cruise sounds nice too ..... probably depends upon your criteria, I have never been on a cruise, so I have no advice/opinions there at all. SO - the best I can probably suggest is going to the Keys .... snorkeling in the sunshine, sand under your feet while the two of you enjoy secluded beaches ..... hey, I'm making myself want to plan something like that! ~
Our girls will be set. My MIL lives right around the corner. The biggest concern is actually the Pets! LOL but the girls usually run home & let them out & feed them. So that is not a huge concern. The Florida Keys may be an option. Snorkeling sounds like an adventure! My DH has always wanted to rent a jet ski - I'm sure that's do able around there.
I like Carnival. You will love Carnival. party cruise. I know you will love it. Look no further. Since I know you so well, Tammy. Just Party alittle it you want. They don't force you to party. People aren't drunk or anything. People are friendly from all over the country. People are just enjoying life in a good way. Visit http://www.cruisedirect.com for easy way to book cruise. you can call them too or call your travel agent. Tell them you are on a budget and must travel when it is cheap. The air fare is what gets you. Can you do jet blue? I really am too much for saving money aint I. Scottish in me...
You can do a two or three day cruise too if you never did a 7 day cruise.
Thanks Feona! DH scrambled the past few days and actually got his passport application filled out, pic taken, birth cert. tracked down and sent in yesterday! WOW! I've never seen him act on ANYTHING so fast in my life! So - maybe we will be going to the Caribbean afterall!
Hi Mommy 3, If you don't get the passports, my husband and I celebrated s special anniversary in the US Virgin Islands. St. John's has some beautiful romantic getaways on the beach as well as exclusive resorts. They actually film a lot of romantic beach scenes at some of their "on the beach" resorts. I think Caneel Bay was one of them (actually has one of the Rockefeller's private cottages on the grounds)??? check the net and current reviews - its been a couple of years since we were there. St Thomas is close for shopping and change of pace. American money, no passport required safe secluded and beautiful but with nightlife right nearby - if you want that.
My favorite island is St Lucia for the Volcanos. I love volcanos. There is a black beach and a white beach too. and the beaches are beautiful too.
I always go to tripadvisor.com to see what there is to do in a place. Where to stay. What to do.
Tripadvisor - great idea - I will check that out!
