I'm so excited and so shocked!

My dh went out Christmas shopping last night. When he got home he had this humongous grin on his face and says "I am going to give you your Christmas gift now, and when you open it, you will know why". So he sits down next to me, with the kids watching too. We were in the living room right in front of the Christmas tree. He hands me this fancy bag. I open the bag and there is a beautifully wrapped box. I opened the wrapping paper and there was another box. I open that box and there in side are the most beautiful diamond earrings! I felt like I was in a Kay Jewelers commercial (they were not from Kay though ) It was just so awesome! They are little silver hoop earrings with diamonds in the hoops.
The reason he gave them to me now is because on Saturday we are going to his company Christmas party which is a formal dinner and dancing party in Detroit. It is at the hotel his company has refurbished.

My dh is a man who never wants to spend money on anything and who always has to be saving. This is why I was shocked!

It has been a joke between us that he would give our dd diamond earrings before he would ever give them to me. So a little bit later when I was cuddling with him I said "and I got them BEFORE B did! " LOL He cracked up.

It was also funny because when he left, my mom was here helping me do some baking. He left saying he was going to go Christmas shopping so my mom said "Patti, how many Karats do you want?" Totally joking around. Then he comes home with these earrings. And he made sure to tell me that he had been planning on getting these for a while.

That's really nice! I should let my dh read this. We have a fancy wedding to go to this Sat. night. It's in the French Quarter (in N.O.) at the St. Louis Cathedral and the reception is at a nearby hotel. I really need some diamonds! I've been struggling with what to wear and diamond earrings would sure be nice!

Dawn I always thought the same thing, that I was lucky to have the diamond on my finger.

I now need to decide on how to wear my hair so I can show off my earrings

Good luck with finding a hairstyle! I still don't get tired of watching my diamond sparkle and if I'm under incandescent lights, like at church, it's fun to make rainbows with my ring.

Lucky you! My X bought me a gorgeous pair of diamond studs many, many years ago, and I lost one down the shower drain. I would LOVE to have diamond hoops!
