SNOW!!!
Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: SNOW!!!
In HOUSTON! What a crazy year! First the big hurricane, now snow. It hasn't really accumulated much, but enough to cover the grass (which is still green btw). We wore shorts this weekend. Anyway, a lot of fun for my kiddos.
WOW, that is odd. If we get snow here in Tampa in Feb, I won't be shocked. I've seen snow twice in this area in my life, so it is not impossible. I hope we do, for my kids sake. 'Cause I will never drive from FL to drive in snow---no snow tires, no snow driving experience in MY LIFE....just not gonna happen. So the only way my kids will see snow is if it comes here. Hope the snow sticks around long enough to play in it. We are having another GREAT DAY/NIGHT. I love this weather. This is what we should have been having in Oct. We skipped right over fall, so I am happy to get it now.
I just KNEW it had to be you Kym when I saw the title snow! It is hilarious how excited everyone is over this. I am a little further north than you are and we actually got quite a bit! Our yards, cars, roofs, and out into the road so far and it's still going! My sister (she's 19), her boyfriend, and Brendan had a ball out in it earlier. I'm good now, it can stop and not do it again for another 5 years! I'm hoping it stops and is gone by the morning, I have an appointment downtown and I do NOT want to drive in it! It's funny, Brendan wore shorts to school yesterday and if you look at our 5 day forecast it's supposed to be 75 on Monday! lol... only in Texas!
Christy we did find it amazing. We haven't seen snow since we moved 5 years ago. We played for hours literally. We had enough snow on the ground to build a 2 foot snowman (maybe a little taller). All the n'hood kids were out playing and throwing snow at each other. It was a lot of fun. My funny story. When I picked up the little guy from school he asked "is this snow"? it was very lightly raining and it was very cold. I said, no honey, but it is close. So we had a discussion on what it takes to snow. I then told him it was unlikely it really doesn't happen in Houston often. So about an hour later, he asks me "Can I pray to God and ask for snow?" I told him of course he was allowed to pray for anything. So about 2 hours later it starts snowing, a hard snow (which is atypcial of just a small snow). He goes outside, he is very excited and loudy exclaims " I LOVE GOD!". He went on and on about how God answered his prayer, it was so sweet. The faith of a child cannot be surpassed. Anyway, it was one of our greatest evenings.
I'm sure between your childs prayer and all the other children's prayers God did send that flurry just for them! That is so sweet. I love when my children see immediate and clear answers to their prayers.
Awww, Kym, that's so sweet. I'm sorry I spelled your name wrong, in the photo thread, though. Whoops.
Part of why I went by kaye here, there was a kim and a kym and a kay so I didn't no what else to use! But my real name is Kim. Thanks for posting the pics dawn!
Awww, how sweet!! And I'm shocked at the snow, that's definitely unusual even for the Central TX area we lived in (we had snow once in 3+ years, on Valentine's Day, and it last about 4 hours) let alone Houston!! Heck, we were there in February, and it was warm enough for tank tops!
Snow here in N.O. today! It's mostly melted now, but the snowmen that Jen and the neighbor and her little boy built are still in the yard. LOL
What a day in N.O.!! My sister in Lafayette called early this morning to brag that they were playing in the snow. I told ds that I didn't think we were going to get any this far south. Boy was I wrong! I had to work today - substituting at a nearby school. The kids started telling me that it was snowing outside and soon enough the principal announced that we could all go outside and play in it! We all had a ball! How exciting!
I am SO HAPPY that you guys got snow! You are always so excited to see our pics, so it's nice that you got some of your own!
Jeanne, some places on the north shore had 8" today! The local news said this area of Louisiana had it's 2nd heaviest snowfall on record today. Marcia - I missed it - I was trying to fly HOME today! LOL
They were talking about all this snow, on the weather channel tonight! LOL! What a surprise for all of you!
Yeah.......and I missed it. I guess there's hope it might happen again this year! LOL
Well, even though temps yesterday, etc. were well above freezing, the tiny snowmen that Jen and her friend made were still in the yard. I just went outside to get the newspaper and all that's left of the bigger one is a *ball* about 6-8" across and that will melt quickly, as the temps are supposed to rise today.
