Log house and lady bugs
Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Log house and lady bugs
We have worked on our log house since the end of August and got moved in a couple of weeks ago. We are having a ladybug problem. When we first bought the house, we bug bombed it and had it treated for termites and checked for everything. And I never say any at all while we were renovating. We Kilzed and painted all paintable surfaces and cleaned all the rest. Over the past 2 weeks I am finding ladybugs everywhere..in the window seals, in the bathroom, in my BED!!! Does anybody know if there is a reason for this? Ever heard of something like this? I vaccumed 30 out the window in the living room this afternoon. Weird.
We have just started getting them in our house too. I am not sure, but I think it's their migration time.
I'm pretty sure that is a seasonal thing... if I remember correctly, there were certain months out of the year that we had a ton when I lived in TX. I just left them alone, I hate bugs, but they are pretty! IDK if they are bad for the house or anything, though.
I am so glad we don't have that problem in my area. In fact I bought larvae for the kids to watch turn into ladybugs this year. It is actually even more interesting than the butterfly's were the year before.
When we lived in Chicago, we would get invaded by ladybugs in the fall. They would get in the house. Hopefully, it is just that time, and you won't have problems for long.

We've had a few in our house, but now it's getting colder, so I'm pretty sure we are done with them.
They winter over and when the weather warms they become active. They are actually illegal to kill in NY, so we couldn't do much about them except be sure all the cracks were sealed. They really are harmless. Ame
I happen to look at ladybugs as good luck. Silly, maybe....we get very few of them. I found one this week, at the back door. I actually leave them alone in my house.
I like ladybugs. Like to play with them letting them walk over my hands. I haven't killed any. Just pick up the live ones and throw them outside and vacuum up the dead ones. But they are all over. Like I said I vacuumed up 30 in the living room window. But they are finally getting fewer. I only found 1 live one on my bed today. Dh said that there were several in our old house the other day, too. Maybe it's just a thing this year.
