I Want To Move!!!!!
Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: I Want To Move!!!!!
We just found out yesterday, that my neighbor cought some 16/17year old boy trying to break into our house last Wednesday!!!! It was around noon, which is when I am picking DD up from school!! What is it with my house these days? 1st, they steal the DVD player out of my car, and now they want in my house!!! It's so sad that I have to look in the window of my door before I open it to make sure no one is in there. I am terrified now!! It's sad that I can't even feel safe in my own house anymore. We have an alarm and a sign that says it too!! I am greatful that he saw the young man, and called the cops, but he was gone by the time they got here...of course. Luckily he got his license plate number, which shows that he used to live 2 streets away from me. Unfortunately, he hasn't changed his address yet. We are calling the officer who handled the case today to see exactly what happened, and if they cought him. I feel like I can't even enjoy the holidays now, in fear that someone will barge in and take everything. It also scares me to be bringing another little one into this world, where I don't even feel safe. I don't live in a bad neighborhood either, but the crime rate is getting high everywhere. I wish I could win the lottery and move!!!!
Wow, that is scary!!! ((((Rayelle))))) do you guys have a neighborhood watch? Make sure you talk to your other neighbors so they know what happened, and can be on the lookout.
I am so sorry that you are scared to live there now. I think in this day and age it happens everywhere. Just keep lights on when you leave, and even at night, maybe a kitchen light. Do you have the outdoor motion sensor lights? Call the local police department and have them talk to you and Chris about the things you can do to make your house unappealing to criminals. Don't let this kid make you feel like a victim, you are a strong person and shouldn't have to live in fear.
That is scary. You were very lucky a neighbor saw and reported it (esp getting the tag number!) With the economy being so bad, I suspect the crime rate of stealing will be going up more and more. If you do have the neighborhood watch program, it sounds like a good time to have a meeting since your area is certainly showing a rise. Esp with Christmas coming and the presents just waiting under the tree for some lucky theif! If you don't have one, perhaps you could call your police dept and schedule the first meeting before the holidays get here. I'm sure many of your neighbors will be surprised to see how close the crimes are to their own homes now.
That is scary! Why did it take so long for them to notify you about it?
We do have a crime watch, but I don't know if they are always on the look out or what. 2 of the members live on our street. Colette, I don't know why he just told us yesterday. I guess since he hasn't seen us outside, he didn't want to bother us. I don't know why the police didn't call us either to let us know what happened. My DH is calling them today. Hopefully he'll get more information.
((((hugs)))) I know how you feel. We once lived in a neighborhood where I didn't feel safe. I remember lying awake at night listening for noises outside. It was terrible. And, nothing ever really happened to us/our house, it was just a "bad neighborhood" where there were a lot of weirdo's around all the time.
