I-pod question
Hi Ladies, I know I haven't posted lately been super busy with work and home as always but I'm regularily reading how you all are! I truly hope to get some time to post about us soon Anyway, I won an I-Pod Nano 8 GB from an exposition I attended about a month ago. It says to download I-tunes but I guess my question is this. If I already have music on my computer can I load them onto the i pod without downloading i-tunes or is i-tunes a specific requirement?
You MUST use iTunes to sync it, no other program will work, but you can import your music from your computer to iTunes easily. It should give you an option during set up. One side note, you can charge it on any computer, even if it doesn't have iTunes, that was something I didn't learn for a while with my first iPod. I have a 4G Nano (1gen) and the 8G Touch, so if you need help, my email is cjaping at gmail dot com, I'll be glad to give you some pointers. I used to think the iPod wasn't worth it, only paying for the price, but after using others then getting my iPods, I totally heart them!!! Enjoy!!!
Thank you Crystal! I'm currently charging it on my work computer...shhhh but I thought I'd have to use itunes for something. I will send you emails I'm sure as I start to use it more. I love the alarm feature (It went off at 5:30 this morning and it said on the screen "Wake up you have work to do" or something similar lol I was playing the games that are loaded into it last night for a bit which was cool I thought it was a good way to get in touch with the "controls"
I'm glad you are enjoying it! I used to charge mine at work too, lol. I never used the alarm on my Nano, but my Touch has a stopwatch, alarm, and world clock, and I've used all of those, although the alarm is not loud enough to wake me. I use my cell for that!
I didn't have it turned on last night so I'll see tonight when I leave it on how loud it is...I don't even know how to turn up the volume yet! LOL It's probably going to be the weekend before I get a chance to install Itunes and see what more I can work out. I'm going out of town in a couple of weeks and I'm hopeful that I'll have some music on it by then so I can listen to it on the ferry on my trip. I'm thinking about buying a macbook so this will go perfectly with it when (if) I buy it.
Run your finger around the track to turn it up or down. And once you get it downloaded, importing the music is easy, but I noticed after I got the Touch and downloaded the newest version of iTunes that it's sometimes a PITA to get the music you want on your iPod. Like if I have 20 gigs of music on my PC, and want just a few specific albums on the iPod, I had to take a few tries to figure out how to get those albums without anything else on there. Kinda hard to explain, but I figured I would give you a heads up, just in case.
LOL Crystal. When I first "met" you on your blog you had a questionaire. One of the questions was how much music is on your computer. I remember thinking...huh...music on my computer, I have none. You had some insane large amount comparatively. Now we are the owners of 5 or 6 ipods of different sizes and I have music on my computer However, you still reign in the amount of music you have!
LOL, Kaye... a lot of the reason I have so much is DMB downloads. The band supports taping and sharing of live shows, and I download every show I attend, plus some that are really popular amongst fans. The 2-night show I attended this year was over over a gig altogether, and I have 2 or 3 other shows from this year as well! My Touch is kinds designated my DMB iPod, since I have mostly live shows on it. I'm glad I customized my hard drive when I bought my computer, or I wouldn't have room for it all!
