Need help..Pie question Sorta??

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive October 2008: Need help..Pie question Sorta??

I know I can always count on the moms for help.

I want to know if anyone knows what those pans are called that you put under your pie when you are cooking it? They are round with a hole in the middle, it catches the drippings. My grandma has always used one, I have never seen them in a store, and I would love to buy one. But I have no idea what they are called. I hope someone could help me. TIA Brooke

I am not a pie baker and honestly have no idea what your talking about. LOL I did a google search and found this:

Is this anything like your talking about?

I always use a cookie sheet. If you put it in the oven while you are preheating, it helps the bottom crust cook better.

There are also oven liners you can buy, like at Bed Bath and Beyond, store like that. My mil got me one for my stove last Christmas. It works for pies and pizzas as well. I no longer have to worry about stuff sticking to the bottom of my oven.

I just use a cookie sheet, too. A local Christian school, makes apple pies, in the fall, for a HUGE fundraiser. You'd have to live under a rock, not to know about Sheboygan Christian pies! I always use a cookie sheet, when I bake my apple pie, since it would make a huge mess in my oven.

Making 10,000 pies in 4 days.

My kids don't go to this school, but one of my clinic co-workers has grandchildren who go to this school. (Grandma went there, Mom went there, Kids went there and now the grandkids.)

They are so good!

Thanks Vicki I found one on the link that you posted, exactly what I was looking for. They are called oven splatter guards.

I don't know how to post a link or a pic or I would so you could see what I was talking about.

Thanks ladies I know I can always count on you. Have a great day. Brooke
