Autumn favorites
Now that it is starting to cool off in most areas of the country, what are some of your favorite things about this time of year? It's my favorite season so I have so many things I love but a few are: The smell of apples cooking in cinnamon and sugar Cozy sweaters and socks Crisp, cool mornings Fall decorations and colors Pumpkin spice lattes
Halloween
the leaves on the sugar maples and having a fire outside.
Halloween is definitely up there. Trips to the desert. Reasons to lay around watching movies all day. Comfort foods. LOL
Picking apples and baking apple pies (we picked apples today) many different fall festivals around here (went to one yesterday and today) the fall decorations Halloween fuzzy socks fall foliage!!! apple cider- hot and cold
-Soups for dinner -Mugs of hot chocolate -Watching movies as a family while we all cuddle under the "family" blanket -
Apple cider with doughnuts sweaters cool weather football the changing leaves pumpkins
Cinnamon candles Hot apple cider with plain donuts Cooler weather Preparing for holidays Vacation (we always go in October) Yearly visit with my parents (they go on vacation with us) Apples and Maple sugar candy brought by my parents from upstate NY. The apples in FL are nothing like New York apples! Bon fires
Halloween is at the top of my list, I've always LOVED it. cooler evenings (our days aren't really all that much cooler yet) fall festivals fall decorations at the stores this year it's new baby Cayden and getting ready for our next arrival
Buying fresh apples Going to the Kettle Moraine Northern Unit STate Forest and climbing the tower to look at fall colors. We are going in 2 weeks, when Sarah is home for the weekend. Parnell Tower pic Going to the pumpkin farm Making chili Apple cider Pretty colors, which we are already seeing and they are gorgeous!
Let's all enjoy fall while it lasts....because it does not last long enough. I love and hate fall....hate it because I know what comes next!
*Cooler* and drier weather The change in the angle of the sun (Yes, I notice that year round!) The approaching end of hurricane season LOL Halloween Looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas Fall festivals - particularly one my friend and I go to every single year - and buying our annual Christmas ornament together - a tradition we have had for years
No more 100 degree days... maybe even having to wear jeans. HALLOWEEN!!!! I like Christmas more but Halloween is good..
All of your listings are nice, but for me this is time time of year when my utility bills are low because I am not paying for air conditioner use nor for heat.
I love the cooler temps, wearing jeans again, the smell in the air, the colors of the leaves. I love Halloween, and Thanksgiving. I love turning off the air conditioning!
Yes, I notice the change in the sun's angle, too. It hits a different area of our sanctuary, as the year goes by. It's kind of fun to watch it throughout the year. On my computer, I had to get a blind for my basement window, because in the fall and spring, the sun hits my computer screen and I can't see it! LOL! Also, what was a nice sunny area, for a flower garden during the summer, gets shady in the fall, from the changed angle of the sun and my neighbor's tress.
I looooooove FAll!! -HALLOWEEN!!! I love it. -Pumpkins and mums...I can spend a small (yes unnecessary) fortune on both! -Jeans and sweaters, for long walks with the dogs -No A/C -football!
another thing I love that I forgot about until I heard it this morning is the sounds of flocks of geese flying south.
Watching the farmers bring in their crops - I have fields on 3 sides of my house Nature's colors Cool nights and brisk mornings Scarecrows Fall festivals Wiener Roasts Comfy sweats Soups in the crockpot Raking leaves with the kids and jumpping in them
I also notice the angle of the sun. It's a subtle thing but because our weather doesn't cool off that much it's one sign of fall. Football!!! Dh and I are both LSU alumni so tailgating is fun! Halloween!
Jeanne, that's why I notice the angle of the sun so much - it may not FEEL cool outside, but it looks like it *could* be, when you're inside looking out. LOL Jeans and sweaters..........wow............I'm still wearing tanks and shorts and sandals........I can't wait for the first cool spell when I can put on jeans again.
Karen... I love when it gets to be long sleeve and short weather here...ROFL!
ROFL Kaye - same here - I like the *sweatshirt and shorts and sneakers* thing..... ~~~~sigh~~~~ I guess we *might* be able to do that sometime in November?
I am like Bellajoe- I have a love/hate with fall since I know what comes next lol! I HATE winter. But I LOVE, LOVE fall! Our town doesn't have much to do usually but there is a lot to do this time of year. There are hayrides and this year there is a haunted forest I'd like to check out and dd wants to go. There are about 4 or 5 trick or treating events in the community. I want to bake/cook again lol! Sweatshirts and jeans make my problem areas less obvious lol! It's just more pleasant to be outside. The front porch is my favorite part of the house.
I'm getting hungry for chili, but at church someone shared some bounty from their garden. Can you say butternut squash soup? Yum. I took a bigger one and a littler one. I hope it's enough.
OOOHHHHHHHHHHHH Chili.........the very smell of it would make my mouth water! LOL I know someone who cooks a monstrous pot of chili EVERY Halloween and has a load of people over with their kids for chili, hot dogs, and assorted other junk food and Halloween desserts, along with trick or treating............. Chili SO reminds me of Halloween! Except more often than not, when we trick or treat here, it's between 75 and 80 degrees outside. LOL
The beautiful scenery for taking amazing pictures.
