A great love story.
When Sonja joined our family, in January of 1998, we needed a teenaged girl to spend some time with her. A few weeks later, Erin started working for us. Sonja was 15, and Erin was 14.5. For those who don't know about our family, we do specialized care fostering. Sonja had cerebral palsy, and required completely on others for her daily care. Erin and Sonja became the best of friends, and spent a lot of time together. When Erin was 15, Sonja's older brother, Chris, picked Sonja up from Erin's place one day. Erin fell in love! Even though she had boyfriends throughout the years, she always said she would marry Chris one day. She told Sonja that it was great to be best friends, but she wanted them to be sisters. Sonja was a great listener, but was unable so speak, so she certainly couldn't let on to Chris. In January of 2004, Sonja passed away. That March I gave Erin Chris's MSN name, and they started chatting. To make this very long story a bit shorter, Erin and Chris are getting married on Saturday. I am so happy for them that I am teary writing this. Sonja kept her unspoken promise to her best friend, and has made her brother very happy at the same time!
What a BEAUTIFUL story! I know Sonja is looking down on them with joy!
