What a week!

What a week!
Well, our ten year old dog died first. We had been expecting him not to make it through the winter, but didn't expect it happen so suddenly. We adopted him right after getting back from our honeymoon. He was our first pet together. Next, right before leaving for our long-planned trip to Chattanooga, our ferret died. Expecting this one, too, as he was almost six, and they usually live around 5 years, with some living to be seven. He was sleeping most of the time, and eating less, so we knew he was reaching old age. But he never became sick or anything, he just went very suddenly, and very easily. Well, we had an excellent weekend in Chattanooga. We did so many fun things. We went to Lookout Mountain and went to Ruby Falls, which is a waterfall that is deep in the mountain. You have to walk through a cave to get to it. It's awesome. We also did the Incline Railway and Rock City at Lookout Mountain. Then we went riverfront, and went through the Chattanooga aquarium and took an hour and a half cruise on the Southern Belle riverboat. That was a lot of fun. We also got to go on a horse and carriage ride in the city. There was even a dalmation on board! There are a lot of fountains and such for kids to play in around that area, so we spent a lot of time there. Then we found out my car had been broken into, and my purse stolen! From the trunk. And no one could possibly have known it was in there because I put it there before leaving the hotel. So ladies, it is definitely not a good idea to leave your purse anywhere in your vehicle. It was definitely someone who knew what they were doing, because they didn't leave a mark on my trunk. No damage at all. We were parked in a parking garage. Our bank card and the only credit card that I carry was used immediately at the local wal-mart. One for over 327.00 and the other for 297.00. We had taken almost all of our money out of our account before going, so they overdrew our account, and we have a couple payments that are supposed to be coming out automatically. Ugh! They got my cell phone, my keys, and a prescription that I carry with me. Just atenolol so not a narcotic or anything, but this is Labor Day, and the pharmacies are closed, so I have had to do without it for two days now. The cops are pretty much sitting on this. I know they could have caught the thieves since they used the cards immediately at the same time at Wal-mart. We knew within an hour or two. They didn't even come out. They just wanted to take a police report at a later time over the phone. Seems they could have possibly gotten fingerprints from our trunk, but they "didn't have time" to come out. When we pulled out, we passed a cop right there in the area doing nothing but patrol. So, I'm aggravated, but it could have been worse. My set of keys were in my purse, so they could have easily driven off with the car, but they didn't. Got to look at the positive side of everything!
((((Adena))))) I'm sorry you've been through all of that. I would have been infuriated with the local police, and driven to the station, demanding to see the supervisor on shift!!
{{{{{{{{{{{Adena}}}}}}}}} I'm so sorry. That really stinks. Bad enough to lose your furbabies, but the rest of it just adds insult to injury. Do you actually have a police report??? That should help you out with the bank and CC company, right?
Oh Adena, I'm so sorry about your beloved furbabies, too. It is always SO sad, even when you expect it. (((HUG))). That stinks about your purse! They must have been pros. Did your car have out of state tags, or are you from Tennesee? Rotten people... they would probably rather steal than work for a living like the rest of us. Make sure you cancel your cards and get your locks changed on your house right away. I think the same thing happened to Pamt about a year ago. I, too, would have driven to the police station and kicked up a fuss.
I'm sorry about your dog and your ferret. That stinks, about your purse. I have my purse in the trunk, or even in the car, almost all the time! We went to eat lunch at Perkins today, with Sarah's stuff, for her dorm room, all packed in the car. Thankfully, no one touched anything. Doors were locked, though.
Well, the kids were really upset, so we just let it go for now. We did get a police report NUMBER that we have to give to our bank and cc companies so they can a copy of it. We live in VA, so yes, we do have out of state tags. But in that area, most of the cars did because it is a tourist area. All of our doors were locked, as was the trunk. Once they got my purse, they had the keys to the car. They must have just grabbed the purse and ran, because if they would have gotten into the car, our GPS was under the seat. At least they are four hours away. I feel a little safer knowing that.
I'm sorry to hear about your dear pets and your bad luck, the old saying when it rains it pours really applies here, I hope that you can get some justice though over your stolen purse and everything else, what a bummer!!!
That is a bad week! I'm so sorry you lost your pets.
I am so sorry about the loss of your pets. That is terrible about your purse too! I hope you get everything canceled and taken care of quickly and easily. It sounds as if you had a really nice trip otherwise.
