What to do?!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive August 2008: What to do?!
By Trina~moderator on Sunday, August 10, 2008 - 01:51 pm:

DS's 12th birthday is this Tuesday. He has not given us any gift ideas. I just asked him again, "Ty, your birthday is this week and you never told us what you wanted." His reply, "I can't think of anything." Argh... We don't go over board with birthday gifts, but we like to get them a little something. He is so hard to shop for. I suppose I could get him a gift certificate to Game Stop or something but that seems so impersonal. He likes to draw but already has loads of drawing pads, pencils, etc. from past birthday and Christmas gifts. He also likes to read but still hasn't spent book store gift certificates. I'm stumped.

His only birthday requests are to make him an apple pie instead of a birthday cake and to invite a few of his friends to see the movie STAR WARS: The Clone Wars when it comes out. SURE kiddo, but give me a little more to work with. LOL!

If he likes Star Wars, get him a Star Wars video game for whatever is his favorite system right now! We can't ever go wrong with new Nintendo DS games for our son! LOL!

I know the game stop thing is impersonal, but the kids really do love it.

My DD and DS have both really enjoyed reading the Star Wars books. If your son likes Star Wars then maybe that would be an idea.

Thanks, everyone. :)

DS has already read several of the Star Wars books and has Star Wars video games.

Colette, you are so right. I know he has his eye on a few things at Game Stop, but isn't willing to spend his own money. I ended up getting him a gift certificate. I feel as if that was the easy way out, but he will be psyched. That's what really counts, right?! LOL!

My teens love gifts cards and CASH. LOL So I think you made the right choice. He'll enjoy going shopping for what he wants. :) Is he going to be 12 already?? Wow.
