Input on a sweet 16 party!
I want to start planning my daughters sweet 16 party. How many moms here have planned one? My daughter is pretty shy but I'm sure she would love to see all her friends celebrating her special day with her. I am planning on ask my father to borrow his house. It has a huge pool, bbq area and such. I would love suggestions on how to make this a wonderful experience. I'm thinking I might make it a Volleyball theme since that is her life. But all suggestions will help. There is a game room down stairs with a full bar. I am thinking I could hire someone to have non alcoholic slushes and fun finger foods in the "lounge" LOL This isn't until Feb.3, so I have sometime but I want to start the process before work starts up again..UUGGHH
Do you live in an area where Feb will be decent outside where they could actually play volleyball and/or use the pool? Check oriental trading and birthday express for sure. The "bar" idea sounds cute and I bet they'd really like that. I'll think on it and let you know if I come up with anything.
Karaoke is always a hit with kids this age. Hire a DJ that has a machine or rent one from a rental company. The bar area is a great idea. Use her favorite colors to give a neat look and feel to the decorations. Make some photo displays of her throughout the years and place them around for people to look at. Good thinking starting the planning early. It will be here before you know it.
My dd is going to be 16 soon too, I hadn't thought about Karaoke, that is a fun idea! I am clueless as to what to do also. lol!
One party we served non alchoholic drinks and finger foods. My son was the waiter, he carried the food around on a platter. He got a big kick out if it, as did his sister. We had karaoke and a dance contest. The kids had a great time. We had the party in the back yard. We have a pool but the kids did not end up swimming.
I was going to suggest kareoke as well. Sounds like fun!
Are you just inviting her friends or is it gonna be alot of family to?
Thanks for all of the great suggestions. We are inviting her aunts, uncles, grandparents etc. I think everyone in our family will be proud to share this occasion with her. She is the only grandaughter in the family so she is somewhat spoiled. LOL
I love the non alcoholic bar idea. It sounds like it's going to be a great party!
