Vapor Steam Cleaners
I am looking to save some money, like all of us. I also want to protect my family (and the environment) from toxic household chemicals. A friend has a vapor steam cleaner and swears it is terrific. From what I have heard and read, these things sanitize without chemicals. Does anyone have one? If so, do you like it? Does it really pay for itself with the money you save by not having to buy chemical cleaning solutions at the supermarket? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you. Oh, here’s a link that shows what you will save by not buying chemicals: http://www.vapor-systems.com/vapor_learning_center/savings-calculator.html While you on the site, look at the cleaning poll on the homepage. Do so many people really have maids?
I had on eof those mop type things. Similar to the smaller model on the sight. While it did work good, it was SLOW. I mean think about it, when you wipe a surface you rub your hand back and forth and back and forth and it takes a few seconds. But with this you held it above for a few seconds, then gently pushed forward. I got rid of mine in a garage sale because I never used it. Also when it comes to cleaning goo from stoves and bathrooms, this always bothered me. It seems like you steam and it evaporates, that certainly isn't what happens on the floor, you steam it, soften it and it wipes with the mop cloth, which looks gross when you are finished and needs washed. So I would think you still need to wipe surfaces and such. Or if it does vaporize in the the air, I can't imagine that being good for you, certainly not better than having "chemicals" on the floor. I wouldn't buy one unless you have a friend that you could see and watch her use it. Or have money to blow
I have a steam mop and love it. It's great for cleaning floors and much easier to use than a traditional mop. That said, I don't think I would totally switch to vapor steam cleaning for other household chores.
