Menu for the 4th
We are thinking about having bbq sandwiches, baked beans, cole slaw, and chips for the 4th. There will be around 25 people coming, so how much bbq would I need to have. How do you all fix bbq? The way I fix it is cook a pork roast, shread it, then just put the sauce on it afterwards. But I was wondering if there some way to cook this where you'd pour the BBQ sauce on it and cook it so that the sauce will cook into the meat? Can this be fixed in a crockpot somehow?
I would cook the roast in a crock pot with bbq sauce. You will probably have to drain this off, because it will mix with the juices, but then at the end of cooking, pour fresh bbq sauce on and mix it together. When I make bbq ribs, I put them in the crock pot and cook them with bbq sauce. Towards the end of cooking time, I drain them and put a new bottle of bbq sauce on them and cook a bit longer. They turn out very good.
i don't know, but boy that sounds good! And a nice break from burgers and dogs!
I always do bbq pulled pork in the crockpot. I brown the roast first, and then put it in the crockpot all day with bbq sauce. Since I brown it first, I don't drain it.
Ditto Adena and Debbie. Same thing here. It's yummy!
I dont' make pulled pork( although we do eat it) my family is from N.C. So we make chopped bar-b-que. I take a pork shoulder season it with a soul seasoning, pepper, pour hot sauce and viniger on it ( viniger cuts the salt), once done I use a meat cleaver and I cop it ( not to fine, you will have minced meat). Afterwards before mixing I take some out for those that have high blood pressure and those that can't take it too hot/spicy. I in turn mix it up in a bowl with hot sauce, viniger, pepper, crushed red peppers.
since texans are more beef/brisket type people...what's the difference between pulled pork and chopped barbecue using pork?
Pulled pork is shredded - like strings. Chopped is just that - more like chicken salad consistency. This is one New Yorker who loves good pulled pork. Ame
we have sliced and chopped here.
