Feeling blah
I always find the first few weeks of summer holidays I feel rather blah. I think I have finally figured out why. All year long my life revolves around school. I work long hours at the school and bring school work home each night. School finished last week and I sort of feel helpless. I feel like I have nothing to do. Of course, there are many things around the house to be done as well as start to pack up the house for the move but it's not my normal routine. Anyone else ever feel like this when holidays start?
Paula - first of all - I've obviously missed something - you are moving??? When/where? When was the last day of school? Here it was May 23 or May 26........summer is half over for the kids here. I can see why you have the blahs though, your routine is so much about school. Hopefully you'll get into the swing of summer soon!
When I taught, I always loved the first few weeks when school got out because I had so many projects around the house. But I found that I finished those quickly and then my 'blahs' hit...I got SO bored in the summer. I really couldn't wait for the school year to begin again. Like you, my life was so much about school and when I wasn't teaching I didn't quite know what to do with myself. (This was also before I had a child, LOL!) I had my few daily routines, then the whole day ahead of me. Typically back in those days, the summer was quite expensive for me. I often filled them with shopping trips. Too much money and too much time....a bad combination. I kind of know what you mean overall! School was SO time consuming and when it was gone, I felt a little lost.
Karen...not moving anywhere. We are building a new house. We move around the middle of August. School ended here on the 20th for the kids but I was in the school last week until Thursday doing some cleaning and organizing. There's lots I could be doing (housework, packing, scrapbooking, working on literacy bags, etc) but I just can't seem to get motivated.
