I listen to NPR while commuting and NPR has a feature called StoryCorps(sp?), where people all over the country record stories. Some are touching, some heart-breaking, some uplifting and some, like this one, very, very funny.

The storyteller this morning was a 94 year old woman. When she was a young woman, her mother was concerned that she didn't have a "womanly" figure, and bought her a bra with inflatable inserts. The woman inflated the bra to about a reasonable size, and everything went very nicely. Some months later she went on a trip to South American and was flying in an unpressurized airplane over the Andes. The bra, of course, inflated in the unpressurized cabin, finally reaching a point where the inserts literally exploded. The co-pilot came into the passenger cabin carrying a gun, the other passengers pointed to her, and the plane made an unscheduled landing. She had to strip to her bra to show the police the source of the explosion, and was allowed to reboard the plane. A few months later she got a bill for $400 (in approximately 1930-35 dollars) for the unscheduled landing.

(I told this story to Scott about 5 minutes ago, and he's still laughing.)
