Wisconsin Dells
I know the midwest has been hit hard with all this crazy weather. I was so shocked to see that house just completely fall into Lake Delton in Wisconsin Dells area..They interviewed the family and the family didnt have any flood insurance, they lost everything. Of course their family is safe and sound. When I lived in the Chicago area, I have fond memories are going to the Dells. It was so much fun, so family oriented. Last time we were there was about 12 yrs ago. I can only imagine the loss that that town has taken for the upcoming summer months.I was looking at some pictures this morning of the area, and it is so heartbreaking.
Jackie, I live about an hour NE of the Dells and I am on an email list for vacation offers and that sort of thing. I got an email yesterday saying "business as usual." The lake is certainly affected, but all of the bazillion water parks, attractions, restaurants, etc. are still open.
That is good to know.. I am guessing the hotels and such that are not directly on the lake are fine. I remember us doing a 2 hr tour thing on the Lake many years ago. I love the Dells...so many memories.
It's hard to get your head around a lake disappearing, but once I saw pictures, I understood more, what happened. I think it's about 2 hours or so, northwest of me.
Here's what is on the Dells chamber of commerce website: IMPORTANT NOTICE! No need to change travel plans. Over 99% of Wisconsin Dells Area Attractions and Resorts are Open for the Summer!
