About 3 weeks ago my ds (7) came down with strep throat. He not only had a sore throat but a fever from Sunday-Wednesday and he was blowing his nose like there was no tomorrow. There was something with the sinuses going on there too. He was home from school Mon-Thurs and finally went back on Friday. Then the following Monday night my dh, who NEVER gets sick, started having the chills and a sore throat. He went to work 1/2 day on Tuesday but just couldn't stay the rest of the day and came home. It, of course, was strep throat. He was sick till about Thursday or Friday. Then that Sunday, I started having a tickle in my throat and some sinus congestion just like my ds had. It ended up that I had strep too. Now i'm just getting over it, and my ds is sick again!! He's got a fever and sore throat and is blowing his nose, again! Now, dd has somehow not gotten this. Which is great because yesterday was her birthday party and I was so worried that she was going to be sick. She started having a tickle in her throat and a headache on Friday, so I called the doc and they just wrote her a prescription (i told them about how it was going around the family).
Hopefully we are all getting the sicknesses out of our system before our Disney trip in 2 weeks!

I'm so sorry!! Blakes teachers little girl has had strep 2 or 3x now. It's kind of scary actually. Is there a new strand going around?

I hope you all feel better soon. We had allergy/sinus stuff really bad the last 2 mos. But it was not strep thank the Lord!!

Patti, sorry you guys have been battling the strep monster! It used to infect my entire household as well.

I think I'd get everyone on some extra vitamin C daily - and take some Emergen-C on your trip!

I know this is probably an obvious thing but make sure you change out everyones' toothbrushes. Dd just had strep a few weeks ago. The Doctor reminded me to change out her toothbrush.

yep, I changed mine and ds's because we had extras in the house. I'll have to go to the store and get some for dd and dh tonight.

When ds and dh were sick I was taking Vitamin C daily and I still am, drank some airborne, took my Centrum vitamins, drank OJ, and washed my hands and lysoled everything. Plus i kept my tooth brush far from his, but still got it.

It seems like dh and a different version than ds and I. He had the chills and was very VERY achy. He pretty much slept for 2 days. The Zithromax helps a lot too.
Ds and I have had sore throats and stuffy heads with lots of mucus. We have gone through about 5 boxes of tissues between the 2 of us with in the past week or so.

We have been there too! I hate it. I blame our weird weather. I had tonsilitis, followed by a sinus infection, my son got a virus on mothers day, the other son is home today with potty issues. UGH! My hubby was out of town all last week, so it is at least nice to have him back home!

Did they do the strep test because from everything dd's doctor told me when I had her there last Monday, strep doesn't usually come with any congestion etc. I also found this on the web:

I am wondering if they did the test and maybe you got meds that were for the wrong thing?

There is a flu like virus and a sore throat/sinus virus going around the town we live in. We have had to deal with both. Basically the doctors are only treated the people that are progressing into bronchitis/pneumonia. We also have been dealing with a reoccurring out break of MRSA infection.

Clarify, We (my family) hasn't had the MRSA infection, it is going around town. We have had the flu and the "cold". I am dealing with the cold as I type actually.

yep, they did the strep test on my ds and it was positive.

I had the same symptoms and my strep test came out positive as well.
