Hubby sure surprised me!
I told you guys about him getting me the card, when we don't ever get cards for each other. Well, he walked in yesterday evening with a dozen roses and my gift! I didn't even notice the bag he was carrying (my gift) because I was floored that he had also gotten me roses. He's a great guy, but I can count on one hand how many times he has given me flowers! LOL! We decided to exchange gifts after the kids went to my parents so we finished getting ready to go. He handed me my bag and it was from a jewelry store! Yay! I pulled out my gift (small box!!!) and unwrapped it and opened it, and there was the EXACT ring that I saw and fell in love with when I took my wedding rings in to be re-sized. I've always joked (okay, somewhat seriously!) that I wanted a ring for my right hand for our tenth anniversary, but with some things that have come up, I didn't really expect it this year. A couple months back, I had come home from the jewelry store and told my husband about the ring and told him after seeing that ring, I wanted an emerald ring. It was gorgeous. I told him just a bit about it and never gave it anymore thought. He already had a ring on lay-away there for me that he was paying for, but when I told him that, he went and saw the ring that he knew had to be the one I loved, and exchanged them. I had never shown him the ring, either, but he got it right! I am so excited. It's gorgeous, with an oval emerald in the center and small diamonds circling it and going down the band on each side. He even had them send it off and size it so it would fit when he gave it to me. I'm shocked. He is so not a planner when it comes to things, but he said nothing was stopping him from getting me a ring for our 10th anniversary. He went to so many lengths to make it the most special day. He said it was our 10th and we needed to go all out because it is a special anniversary. Who is this man??? LOL! Oh yeah, our dinner was outstanding and I LOVED their Venetian Sunset (a drink)! Yummy! Did I mention I love this guy soooo much????
Awwww, that was very sweet! What a great gift. And how impressive that he actually LISTENED to you. Wow!!!!!!!
Wow, that is so cool!
Awww, how sweet!!!
That's wonderful!!! Ame
So cool!!! The gifts that show they were listening mean the most, whether they are $5 or $5000. Happy Anniversary!
For Christmas 1996, DH gave me an ornament that had been painted by a friend, with a scene of our house, in the winter. I knew she was always crazy-busy painting ornaments, so I knew he'd planned ahead to have it ready by Christmas, so that meant a lot. Since then, the friend has since died of colon cancer and we've replaced the windows, so it's irreplacable! Fortunately, DH bought the protective dome to display it in and it's still intact, nearly 12 years later! It's always out on my piano. He'd given her a picture of the house, shortly after we'd closed on the house in April or May of that year! So, it's a very precious gift, to me, both as a remembrance of the friend and as a gift from my DH!
Too sweet. What a great guy! Congratulations on your anniversary and the extra attention from dh!
Congratulations! And we want to see apic of this ring! :-)
Karen...I'll try to post one today!
holy smokes, he planned ahead, listened to you, etc. How sweet! Sounds like a beautiful ring. For our 10th, this july, we are going to NYC!
What a nice surprise and what a good dh! I imagine that the surprise of him planning and thinking of exactly what you would like is even better than the flowers and ring!
Wow, that's some guy. The ring sounds beautiful.
