Please say a prayer for my mom
My dad just called. My mom has a ruptured appendix and is in surgery right this minute
Sending thoughts and prayers for your mom Please let us know how she is doing.
Your family is in my thoughts, let us know how she is doing. (((Yvonne)))
I just spoke with the hospital. She just got out of surgery. She has a very high fever so she is being moved to ICU.
I just emailed you. Many prayers, positive thoughts and healing vibes for your mom heading your way.

Dad just called. He said they had to make a much larger incision than anticipated, due to the amount of infection. He said she had gangrene near the rupture. I don't quite understand that. He said they left her incision partially open in case they need to go in again to clear out infection.
Yvonne that happened to me in high school. BAsically it means her appy has been ruptured for a day or two before the operated and it got icky. What they did for me to leave it open was pack it with cotton, so they could clean it out if it got to looking yucky. Just an FYI expect her to be in the hospital a minimum of 5 days, I was there 8. My scar from 20 years ago is 5 inches long and an inch thick, far from a smooth straight line. Prayers headed your way.
Prayers for your mom to have a speedy recovery.
I remember when my mother's appendix ruptured. It was a nerve-wracking and worrisome time. Prayers that your mom recovers quickly!
Mom had some issues this morning with her oxygen level being extremely low. It is still not where they would like it to be but it is better. She is responding to the antibiotics and her fever has gone down. She has a very raspy voice, presumably from having tubes down her throat. She has been up walking twice today. They moved her to a regular room this afternoon. Over-all things are looking much better than they were yesterday. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers!
I'm sorry and hope your mom is feeling better quickly. If there was a lot of infection, they wouldn't want to close that wound. The infection needs a place to drain out! What a scary thing, though. Emily's was "obviously inflamed" (from the surgical report, which the insurance company made us get a copy of, before they paid for her surgery), but it hadn't ruptured. I was glad.
I'm glad she is doing better, Yvonne. I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers!!
Friends care about each other in a very special way - a sincere kind of long-lasting, heartwarming way. To care about good friends like you Is such an easy thing to do. Wishing You a Happy Mother's Day! Yvonne I spoke with mom today. Her voice was better but she had a rough and sleepless night. She has a lot of swelling and bloating. She said that she told dad a while ago that the perfect Mother's Day she would receive jewelry, chocolate and flowers. She received flowers from my sister (but they are at home where she can't enjoy them), a gift certificate from me to pick out a necklace (so she doesn't have it yet) and chocolate from dad (that she can't eat). She said it all worked out wrong. I told her next year she will need to add to her wish that she is not in the hospital. LOL. She was frustrated because the doctors would not give her any answers today about her recovery. She feels she is not getting better. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for her. Thank you for having her in your thoughts and prayers!
LOL, Yvonne, it's good that she is keeping her sense of humor about it. And the poem is so nice!!!
Yvonne, she will be in my thoughts...
Mom is not doing well today. She has an infection and has caught pneumonia

Yvonne, how is your Mom today????
I spoke with mom and she is feeling a bit better today. She hasn't been able to get up and walk because the nurses have been too busy. Hopefully they will get her moving. I think that is important. She had to sleep sitting in a chair last night and was pretty miserable. I guess that helps with the pneumonia. I told her to ask for sleeping medication tonight. I spoke with a nurse earlier today, The nurse said she is doing better today than yesterday. She said she is progressing as expected.
I'm glad she's doing a little better. She obviously doesn't live near you....how far is she? It must be so frustrating to not be able to be near her right now! I hope she sleeps better and that the nurses can be more attentive.
I hope your mom continues to heal quickly. My mom is my best friend in the whole world and has alot of health issues that I manage for her, and so, I can definitely empathize with you. You are all in my prayers too..
She is in NY. I am in Florida.
Yesterday I called and she was in great spirits. They had removed her tubes and had her up and walking. She could eat again, though she didn't have an appetite. I called today and dad answered. He said he had just brought her home. Last I had heard, she was not going to be home until next week. It was surprising to hear that they released her. She must be doing much better. Of course, she is thrilled to be home. Yvonne
I am so happy Yvonne. She might not have an appetite for a while. I still don't. I think it's the morphine. I have to remind myself to eat something.
Great news, Yvonne!
Really good news..
Wonderful news!
Thanks everyone!
Wishing your mom a speedy recovery
Glad for the good news. Morphine definitely dulls the appetite. And, warning, causes constipation. Did the hospital arrange for any in-home services for your mom, or at least a visit or two from a nurse to check on her? Does your dad have neighbors/friends who will help with meals, etc. Mom shouldn't start doing everything right away, and I'm sure she will try.
Oh what great news that she is well enough to be home!
Yvonne, how is your mom doing today??
So glad to hear your mom is doing better.
She will have in home visits. Yes, they have help with food. Since she was in the hospital 2 months last year, dad has learned how to help around the house. She is in a lot of pain, so I am not worried about her trying to over-do.
She is doing MUCH better now!
I am very happy Yvonne.
