We've had fires here in Colorado the last couple of days. One close--on Ft Carson (about 30 miles from me) and one east of Pueblo in Ordway. Two volunteer firefighters were killed in Ordway and a pilot was killed when his plane went down by Ft Carson yesterday (he was helping fight the fire). They have the Ordway fire contained, but the Ft Carson fire is only 10% contained right now. Thankfully, we're getting snow now that's supposed to last through the night, and that's helping them out. They don't have causes for either fire yet. It's been extremely dry here lately. It's fire season.

As of 4 this morning the Ft Carson fire is 30% contained. That area got about 4-5 inches of snow overnight which helped tremendously. We didn't get a lot--probably only a couple inches but enough to have a good ground cover. We didn't get near as much snow this year as last year, so things are quite dry. What we really need is a good soaking! Hopefully they can get the rest of that fire contained today.
