Teacher Appreciation Week
Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up and this year I'm having a little bit of a problem coming up with ideas for each day because for the first time since I've been a room parent (this is my 8th year) one of my children has a male teacher. Anyone ever had to do this for a male teacher before and if so what kind of things did you do? The school head room parent gave out a list of ideas, but they are for women teachers since male teachers in elementary school is not as common. Here is what I have come up with so far: Monday - bring in a candy bar (he's a chocoholic) Tuesday - cards that the children made on Monday (will be in charge of the class for one hour on Mon while the teacher is at a special luncheon so I will bring in the supplies for the cards and have the kids make them at that time.) Wednesday - Thursday - Friday - restaurant/movie gift certificates (I am coordinating with the room parent of his wife's class to get gift cards that they can use as a date night type of thing. She's a teacher at our school too.) This school is very large and many of the families can not afford to spend much money. I can only ask for one $5 donation per family per year and I will be asking for all $5 from each family for the gift certificate for Friday. Any ideas for Wednesday and Thursday that the children can bring in, but will cost little to no money? TIA
Wednesday: Please have your children write a list of the three things they love about their teacher Thursday: Please have your child write a sentence about the best thing that happened in class this year. It could be something they learned or a special day in class, etc.
Or....bring in a camera and take a class photo to present to the teacher.
I don't know if you would have enough time to do this, but my DD had to do a 1/3 scrapbook page of herself for a student teacher. It was a picture of herself, things that would make the teacher remember her, and then some things that she would remember about the teacher. It was done at home. Assign the students a letter of the alphabet and have them write down words that start with that letter that describe the teacher. Make up a display on the wall or outside the classroom.
Thanks for the ideas so far and keep them coming! I forgot to add that this is a 2nd grade class and there are 20 children.
Those are such great ideas!! As a teacher, I would have loved all of those. I think they are perfect for either male or female. My DH loves to get his truck washed at the fancy carwash, so maybe that? That's between $10-$16 here so I'm not sure if that will work in your budget or not. I *love* all the previous ideas!
