My co-worker was on her dream vacation this week. She was touring Ireland and Belgium and Germany with her son. It has turned into the worst week of her life.

Her son fell in Ireland and broke his kneecap. Back home, her mother had a stroke and her sister lost her short-lived battle with cancer. They can't get home until Saturday evening so they are dealing with their grief alone over there. So very sad.

HOW SAD. I'm sure they'd been looking forward to a wonderful trip for a while and now it's just ended up horrible. What a tragedy.

Well, as if her life can't get any more chaotic, they are now telling her that her son can't travel. He is in his early 20s so he's not a little boy but he is still her little boy, KWIM. She is leaving him in Ireland. Her ex works for an American company in Germany so she is hoping he can help out. We are taking up a collection for her to use for either a donation to her sister's memorial or a plane ticket back to Ireland to get her son.

Her sister had just found out in the past couple of weeks about the cancer. She led everyone to believe it wasn't as bad as it was. I thnk she did that on purpose so K wouldn't cancel her trip. This is her first real vacation in many many years.
