My 20 year old cousin and her 8 month old daughter were in a car accident this morning. Roads were slick from lots of rain and she turned around for a second to do something for the baby and she lost control of the car. The baby was life flighted to Fort Wayne (the best hospital in the area) and the mother was released this afternoon to go to Fort Wayne to say good-bye to her daughter before they unhooked her from life support. She had no brain activity.

I don't know a lot of details right now, but I am just devastated for her. She's going to have that guilt for the rest of her life. There was no one else involved, just her, so there's no other way for her to look at it other than that she caused the accident.

Please keep them all in your prayers. I'm still in shock from the news and I just can't imagine the pain she and her family is going through.

I am sitting here crying my eyes out, what a tragic accident. I am so sorry for your cousin, I can't imagine the guilt she will feel for the rest of her life. I just can't imagine, I'm so sorry for your families loss.

I just tucked my boy into bed but I'm gonna go give him one more hug... So sad, so very sad.

I just can't imagine. I hope that your family can get her into counseling very soon. I know from someone who struggles with depression, in a similar situation I am not sure I can cope.

Well, I guess they aren't unhooking her until today after one more neurologist sees her. But she still isn't having any brain activity.

I did find out that the carseat with the baby was thrown from the car. The car hit three small trees, but never flipped. I'm wondering if it was one of the carseats where you attach the base with a seatbelt, and then you can just hook the seat onto the base. I don't know. None of it makes sense to me.
