Holy Flying Trampolines!!!
Yep. That's what we had today! Parts of Colorado had blizzard like weather today. We got the winds, but not much snow. It's snowing/raining now, but nothing's sticking. The winds have died down, thankfully. This afternoon Robin yells, "MOM! LOOK!!" I looked out the back window just in time to see our trampoline bouncing across the back yard! I yelled to dh, who was working from home today because of the weather, put Robin's shoes on because they were close, grabbed my coat and ran out front to find the trampoline tangled in an Aspen tree and half in the street! That thing must have blown at least 200 yards in about 10 seconds. It took out a small basketball goal we had cemented out back and jumped TWO fences! (we have it fenced in the back corner of the yard to keep the daycare kiddos off it) So it's toast. Oh well. I guess almost 2 years for a trampoline in Colorado is a long life. Heidi, how'd you guy fair? I'm headed to Denver tomorrow morning for a child care conference and spending the night with a friend who lives east of town. She called this morning and said they got hit hard! I hope driving isn't too bad tomorrow.
We lost our trampoline in Hurricane Wilma. We have no clue where it went
Wow...you know I never thought about our trampoline in the event of a hurricane. Yvonne are there people who "pack" theirs away if a storm is coming?
We usually turn it upside down but didn't that time. I do not know what people usually do. They are a pain to take apart.
Here in Wisconsin, our next door neighbors had a tree fall in their front yard. My youngest DS is now freaked out---we are surrounded by woods. It is so windy here that I am having Katrina flashbacks almost, except this time there is sleet and snow mixed in with the rain and wind. It's yucky out tonight! I can't believe that you trampoline went so far! It's fortunate that it didn't do more damage or hurt someone. Yikes!
Pam, we're very thankful it didn't hit the house or a car. It went right by the house--probably only about 15 feet away. Dh and I went out to run some errands after the last kiddo went home and there were several playsets, forts and play houses scattered across back yards, some completely destroyed. Someone a couple streets over lost a wooden playset/fort. The roof to my Little Tikes playhouse blew off, but it landed on our patio so we just put it in the garage. Crazy. Yvonne, I couldn't imagine taking a trampoline apart. Turning it over is a good idea, but ours has (had!) the safety net on it. That's probably why it took flight! lol If dh hadn't been home I don't know what I would have done with it. For as stinky as it was to lose the trampoline, things could have been much worse.
We lost ours (southern Ariz) in October, it cartwheeled two times over the gate and landed across the street wedged between our neighbors Volvo and a Window Broke the window and dented the car, we paid a deductible! Our new one is tethered 2 feet underground
Oh no! That's a shame. I'm glad no one was hurt, or nothing else was damaged, when it took off. We were pretty windy last evening, too.
The wind was SO bad last night, it sounded like a tornado was coming through!! I had stayed at a friend's house in the next town over, and the first thing I asked when told how bad it was outside was "Why didn't you wake me up?! What if it was really a tornado?!" Sigh... this spring has started off poorly!!!
